I'll get the pitchforks and torches, you find a tree and rope. In any event, big thanks to the entire dev team for all your work on the only bf2 mod that's worth a darn.'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']Well if server admins want to force us into diverting energies from developing mod content and into locking down the server code, I suppose we might have to think about that.
I'd rather they just ran a different mod to be honest. That way we can focus our energies on building great mod content, not on addressing the two or three obstinant admins who might refuse to cooperate.

It is actually kind of sad that you guys would think that people running server side mods in any way detracts from your mod. If anything, the beauty of most mods is that they are "freeware" and any kind of changes made server side are just increasing its exposure. I understand that it is your intellectual property, but I really don't see why you feel that you should clamp down on the admin community for doing what they see fit to make their play time more enjoyable. Its like saying that if you don't want to play by the rules that I want to impose, I am going to take my ball and go home.

PR is not about spawning in and fragging. It's about teamwork and staying alive, as a server admin myself I am 100% behind the decisions made.It is actually kind of sad that you guys would think that people running server side mods in any way detracts from your mod. Sorry guys, but I didn't mention anything about changing the balance of the game. However, as much as I love realism and teamwork, the sad fact is that your average bf2 player and even your average pr player are not up to the standard that the people on this forum would set. That said, what if you are having a crappy night? Would you like to sit around dead for a whole minute each time you die? I for one did not plan on spending my evening more or less afk... Insta-spawn is one thing, but the 30-60 secs spawns get real annoying. And quite honestly, some of the prm maps are horribly balanced to begin with.

On the contrary, it is the high standard of the game that has made it popular with those who play. And if they're not up to the standard, would it hurt them to reach for it? And if it does hurt to play, there are plenty (too many) mindless no-teamwork run'n-gun insta-spawn games out there to keep them busy.lordy wrote:the sad fact is that your average bf2 player and even your average pr player are not up to the standard that the people on this forum would set.
The developers of this mod work hard to create a unique style of game and I don't blame them for wanting to keep it that way. After all, it's their time, their effort, and their names and reputations on the product. It's moot anyway, because the devs have made their decision.
I could be a jerk and say "then stop dying and you don't have to wait that long", but actually, the annoyance of a long spawn time does make you think twice about your strategy and execution. I know for me, it has made me a MUCH better player. On the other hand, I do think +1 second penalty can become a bit much over time and can result in nearly 1/2 the players sitting on the sideline late into a map, but that's another story.lordy wrote:what if you are having a crappy night? So I guess no new stuff for the MEC, Insurgents, China.Well when will some come out? Everything looks great typical great job devs. What about for .7 instead of amping up the allies why don't you guys try making some cool things for the other factions cause now its going to be a swap feast to get USMC or British troops. Especially on servers that have no AB which I have no understanding why that isn't hard coded.

Strange that the nummer 1 played FPS game in the world is CS, I think that everybody know that you can not respawn at all befor the round is over.lordy wrote:I for one did not plan on spending my evening more or less afk... Insta-spawn is one thing, but the 30-60 secs spawns get real annoying.
And a round take about 5 min.
So it should not be so hard waiting 30-60 sec to respawn, it is your own fault when it take it takes to long time.
Nice to see that you lock the server settings, I think it is the only way to get rid of the servers there the admins not set it up as PR is mean to be played.
As always, kepp up the good work, you guys own the mod scene

Ohh, Irontaxi is on map detail again. Awsome.
Just played an awsome round on Q. River. The awsome detail is all over the place!!!
Don't work too hard guys.
What, am I saying.
Quit your RL jobs and focus on this guys.
There, that's better. Hehe.
Agreed.
Also Q River is a great place to practice air resources vs ground resources.
Sounds like an interesting update, especially the part about server support. Maybe through that, another battle won for the team wolfs?
anyway...looking forward.
Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

'[-=IDSF=- wrote:SykloAG']Those maps look superb. Is it just the angles or is the draw distance significantly increased? Also, were these screenshots taken with 16x anti-aliasing or scaled down from higher res pics?
Those British vehicles look top notch! (wrings hands greedily)...
they do have longer draw distances, BUT, atleast from the ones that I have tested on, with a lower end system they run superbley.

hehe, dont worry, other factions are getting some love too. Youll just have to do what Greasy Monkey suggested and Search for '
Plus dont you think its kinda unfair that the Brits are the only faction in PR without any proper armoured vehicles?
Oh, and regarding team switching and autobalance, I can almost gaurantee you it will ve *very* interesting and fun to play on these less 'conventional' teams now.
