What is with this communities hatred towards newcomers? Are you all too stupid to realize that you were noobs at one point also? Do you realize that all these "noobs" are making this mod more popular, in turn motivating the dev team to make more improvements? The fact that you super elite pr pros are too arrogant to help these newcomers is only making this "noob problem" worse. What you should do is invite those noobs into your squad and try to lead them in how to play "the right way". They will thank you, and you will both have a more enjoyable experience. Stop being whiney *******, because without all the noobs you wouldn't have anyone worth shooting at.

Who cares about the "right" way. As long as you play "our" way.
Hold on - that still sound elitist.

Rewrite - Any newcommer is ... ;)

Not everybody is hostile towards newcommers. Have in mind that 75% of the players are not active on this forum. Just enjoy your first time. If not, just laugh at the new folks and hint that they might be "doing it wrong". :D

Or just do as us: Picture two of the less respectable players of PR doing a dance around a flag and singing their national anthem while the flag goes up. It did the trick for us.

I think you'll find that it's only really sustained and uncommon ineptitude which gets people's ire...

I always find that the elitist in the game are always the ones with the vBF2 background... I mean I had a guy in my squad who admitted to hacking in CoD because it was fun, then he went on to run his mouth at how some "noob" was stealing "his" vehicle... Idiot...

Its the fact that I had someone ask me like why isnt my jet moving so I told them why then literally 30 seconds later "OMG WHY ISNT MY JET MOVING" from another guy so now I just tell them to read the guide.

yeah i agree some of the players are jerk..they are probably like that in real life too....can t imagine what a Vbf2 chat board would be like though!!!!!!

thats being said most of the devs are nice and will give nic responses...we just cant control all the animals ...the cage is just too small...i would say if any new players recieve a bad response...dont take it personally...this is just a game and alot of these people are not too cool in RL so they try to be here....hehehe

I doubt there are very many of us here that actually turn away from helping ''noobs''. Yes, we were all noobs one at some point, and it seems that with every release we are forced to re-teach ourselves.

However, as Hx.Clavdivs says, we here on the forums only represent a minority of the player base, and so coming in here calling us names is inappropriate, not to mention against the rules of our forums. Ill let you slide, being that it IS your first post. But consider it a warning.

ahhh, I need to point this out ... there is a difference between a newcomer and a n00b. newcomers are always welcome ... n00bs ... everyone hates n00bs!

The difference is very simple actually

Newcomer has an IQ greater than 1,
A n00b has an IQ less than 1, but we combine this figure with all newbs IQs added together to make them feel less stupid ... but collectively is still less than 1.

I find the majority of Cobra pilots are like this, I fly AH-6s and Blackhawks but sometimes I just want to give the cobra a try. I join the cobra squad wait for them to die/crash stand at the cobra spawn point and sure enough 2 guys come running up, grab a pilot kit, spam the "negative" command. and take the cobra when it spawns, but no, i'm not 1337 even though they haven't even seen me fly.

but otherwise most of the other player steryotypes especially infantry are friendly.

Apologies for the name calling, but my experience in servers and reading some threads about it here irritated me a great deal. I find it amazing that people will go out of their way to complain about new people flooding the 0.5 servers and ruining their experience when they probably did the exact same thing when they first started. Of course they would not admit being a noob at some point, because all the pros read the manual before they ever think of going in a server.

The point is this is a game and the vast majority of players are not going to take it as seriously as the veterans do. They will not read the manual even if they know about it, they don't care about knowing how to do everything right, they just want to get in and have fun. The people that really love and enjoy this game need to step up and share that experience with the clueless, not shun them off as worthless morons.

Edit: Makee, great post you have there, it should be stickied. Thankyou for altering my view on this community.

If a guy joins my squad and needs help I will help him. But half of them dont even bother joining squads and just lone wolf then complain that the mods sucks :/ Like 3 weeks after .5 was out I was playing with fuzzhead and other people and this one guy would just not stop complaining. He wasnt even playing he was just sitting in the british main or w/e and spamming chat about how the mod sucks :/

Lately I try to play on different PR servers. One server that I like is Russian ABR PR server with many new PR players. I use same gameplay as on a "PRO" server, that is: VOIP, tactics, and try to enable my experience to the new players.

I CAN understand the frustation of the PR vets, when new PR players "damping" their gameplay in "their" squad, well I don´t think that´s a common problem.

The PR community/servers have reached a breakpoint with all athe new PR-players. Some of those players will move on, go back to vBF2/other mods. Some of those players will stay and evolve into real PR players.

It´s not like in 0.3, .4 days when the community was "small" with 2-3 servers.

Game on, cheers up.

But please: To the new PR players: Read the guides. It opens a new world to gaming.

there two typs of newbies/n00bs

type 1 : they have no clue but want to learn, they have intresstet to learn and will lissen to your adivce (these are the newbies we like)

type 2 : they have a clue but dont care shit, they have no intresset to learn from you or any other, they dont lissen for shit, there lonewolf and want sniper rifle as fast as possible (We the veteran's hate these)

I for one dont mind helping newcomers as long as they lissen and pay attention and dont do the oposite to what your telling em. I got a short temper so ppl that you have told the same thing like 5 times and they still dont get it can go sit on a landmine cuz i dont give a shit about em..
