Smart weapons
Ive been playing project reality for a few weeks and it is by far the best mod for BF2 I've seen. I was just wondering if there were going to be smart bombs like the ones in desert storm. That would be awesome. But if they're like the ones in vanilla just don't even bother
. Cause for some reason the f-15 and su-30 ect. had 16 of them and they might hit 1/4 of the time. Maybe if they just worked like the sidewinder and you just got them to fire at the heat produced by vehicles instead. Anyways just a thought. Keep up the good work!

If heat sensitive missiles were to lock onto vehicles, then Friendly vehicles should be locked on aswell, then you would have to look at the minimap, for extra precaution, so the plane whores have something to do other than lock on to everything.
I'll add this to my suggestion list.

Having some laser designation for ground troops would bring air support to an entire different level. Perhaps just the ability to designate vehicles tho, but any vehicle not just enemy giving the pilot the added weight of making the right decisions.
Introduce phosphorous grenades to some infantry classes for close airsupport from helos. Even to mark a clear LZ for the blackhawks. Something more than just your everyway run of the mill smoke grenade, something that could be seen. On the plus it would balance itself out. The enemy can see the but phosphorous plume and dedemao or group to attack if its an LZ.
Perhaps even designate different colors for their specific use.

Yeah, I did it just now.Leo wrote:Yea! Mavericks FTW! Lol...
@ Vikingo: did you miss in that video?
I was switching hands with the mouse(move head) and the joystick. I had really little time to press the:
Pres FRAPS record key.
7 (Air to Ground key)
Joystick Button (to switch weapons)
Zoom In (Scroll on Mouse)
Move mouse to look at the TV screen.
Move the lock on cursor onto the tank. (ñ, ,, . and - keys)
Press the lock on key. (joystick)
Look back on the HUD with the mouse. (mouse)
Fire The missile. (joystick trigger)
Pull back on the joystick with my left hand and look behind me with mouse.
All this in 7 seconds. Life can be harsh.
I crashed in the end

The officer flare grenade plays a "requesting a pick up" and was going to have a minimap icon, for 0.6 I think'[DAMN wrote: StrYdeR']Having some laser designation for ground troops would bring air support to an entire different level. Well you see, in maps like albasrah and gulf of oman (where people seem more responsive), sometimes I'll be commander and tell the pilots to form a designated A-10 or F-18 squad. Then, I'll use my overhead view to see where the enemy is. Then, I'll right click on them, select the DEMO marker , and order the aircraft to fire on it. It works very well you see since they don't have to stare at the mini map, (spotting) or use cruder techniques like smoke or whatever.Just an orange symbol right in front of them. Not to mention it can be seem across the whole map which is a blessing in and of itself. With competent pilots it works like magic (the only hard part is getting them to cooperate). Sometimes in urban environments with lots of obstructions, I'll give them a run in vector or tell them if there is potential anit-air fire. I used a headset once but it seemed that because of the rush of attacking most pilots forgot what I just told them and sometimes resulted in teamkilling or them missing an instruction, such as avoiding a missile. With typing it stays on the screen for a bit so they can reread it.
A typical order in Albasrah would be attacking a spawn car. It would read: Spawn car (what your hitting) concentrated fire (don't spread your fire out cause the target needs multiple hits) approach east (target has a wall on the west side so hit from the east) AA fire attack high (avoid AA by attacking from high altitude) blues present (friendlies in area).
It doesn't make sense to the average Joe, but a few regular pilots get the hang of it quite well, so they love it when I'm commander. The ground troops do usually as well, as long as they get their supplies on time.
On maps where there are armed littlebirds (the vietnam like valley map, where air support is difficult because of the jungle canopy), I'll TRY to get pilots to form squads, but they usually tell me to go to hell . However my last time around in albasrah, one pilot (dyisfey I think) got 83 kills in one game, and we won 387-0. Is that teamwork or what? Also from what I can tell, you can't lock onto friendly aircraft with sidewinders, so I don't see why you would be able to lock onto friendly tanks either, assuming you used the same ground radiation produced by tanks, as even the crappy AGMs on the F-15 weren't that poor (but close).
Since I've already gotten carried away, I was wondering if you could create a new type of heat? I know there's one for aircraft and one for ground vehicles (well ground vehicles are "Lasertarget_vehicle"). But if there was one in between, then perhaps there could be anti-radiation missiles? That would open up a new dimension to the battlefield which I think would be worth exploring! Anyways if I go on much longer I'll have to publish this. Thank you for your time.

Let i make a warning to you, Some of the Pilots you will See are from vBf2 And ARE NOT! To Be Trusted with any sort of Helicopter or Aircraft, these peaple and to be put into cages into they learn that this is PR and not vBF2.
It will Help you to make sure the Pilot has VOIP and that him/her understands what you are saying and then you may get more Help out of him/her With any ground attack aircraft, you must also be able to understand Soon what type of Aircraft that is and what its armaments is or you could be Sending Him to Bomb a Tank Comlumn when he only has Air to Air Missiles.

probably a typo, just wanted to point it out-=ToD=-KNIFE wrote:...and that him/her understands what you are saying and then you may get more Help out of him/her...
'[R-DEV wrote:NikovK']What you do is hold down alt and cycle through the seats. Eventually you'll find a free rope, usually seat 4 or so.
