Kicking the grenade away

Post by 0rpheus »

Would it be possible to kick the nade with your foot to get it away from yourself thus saving your life? Like, if you see one landing right infront of you while you're behind a cover you'd have to run away and you'd probably get shot but if you're able to kick it away from yourself, which I think most solders in real life would do, you'd be fine. Or maybe even pick it up and throw it at the enemy? But yeah, I know, engine limitations and stuf....But maybe it's possible...?

I highly doubt it's possible with the engine. But worth a try, it would be a small but very usefull improvement.

And most soldiers would probably wet their pants if a grenade landed a few steps away from them. :p

You wouldnt have time to kick it anyway in BF2 ... 3 second timer, 2 second kick animation, 1 secs movement at 1ft per second ... boom... and that not including thinking time hehe

The animation should be quite fast, half a second should be enough IMO

Perhaps one could add a 'shit in pants' animation?

Cant even imagine to have experienced that..

I dont think that IRL there would be enough time to do that, especially if the grenade was cooked. There are of course the brave souls that actually jump onto the grenade thus saving the rest of their squad. :35_rip:

My brother had a Band Of Brothers style incident in Iraq, A mortar round hit his hummer, went into the engine compartment and was a dud, didn't go off. Lucky ******* lol. Anyway I'd like to see this implemented but I'm pretty sure it's hardcoded or else we would probably see moving other things.

Probably one of the most heroic things I can think of.

What do you mean by the grenade being cooked? Are you referring to priming it?

Hmmm, there is a chance it is possible but im not sure how easy or reliable it would be. For instance, the effect of stepping on a ammo bag makes it move slightly. if this could be grafted on the frag granade and magnified when you run into it, even better, sprint into it, it goes flying.
Not sure if thats possible.

If you put it in an oven before you use it, it makes a bigger explosion.

JK, sorry, couldnt resist.

"Cooking" a grenade refers to letting it sit for a second(s) after you have pulled the pin and released the lever. So if a grenade has a 5 second fuse, you may hold it for 2 seconds and then throw it so the enemy has less time to react to it.

Was the HMWWV moving?
If so, what are the chances of that happening? 0%?

Would it be possible to make it so that if some brave player lays down over the grenade only he is killed? Reffering to above post about being brave and saving your squad.
