MEC beach landing

Post by DarkTalon »

This is a little map idea I had of a MEC assault on a US held beach, crazy i know but listen. the MEC will start aboard a medium sized container ship and board RIBs docked on the side of the ship (maybe a container has an APC in it?)
boats will then land on an isolated beach with a small village and a USMC outpost. by far the hardest part of this map would be making the container ship.

note: actual ship should be a little smaller than the one pictured above for optimization purposes.

If you were a MEC general and wanted to regain control of an important section of coast how would you take it? US armor would obliterate a land assault, you don't have sufficient aircraft for an aerial assault, you don't even have a navy, why would the US bother with sea defenses, A container ship is nice and stealthy, and you can hide a number of amphibious vehicles and equipment in the containers.

I had an idea for a map based in Persian Gulf, where US landed in 2003, when they invaded Iraq..maybe MEC would try to smuggle to there and cut off USMC from the sea?

But problem is the USMC is not protecting our borders (aside mexico mabye) but its the job of the coast guard or border patrol to.

Someone's been watching the "World in Conflict" trailers too much again, havent they?
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Anyone who invades the US without achieving air superiority first wont get beyond the initial wave.

Insurgents possibly, but even then. Insurgents aren't going to have armor/air support, so at the first sign you'd have ~10 million armed citizens looking for an excuse grabbing all the weapons/ammo they could find, myself including, and hauling *** to the attack site.

A true representation would be a fight in a bombed out scortched earth city, because that's what would have to happen before anyone would be crazy enough to invade. There's a reason the US will never go in without air superiority.

Hmm, I was talking about the Persian Gulf...not North America's coastline....

Attacking one of the main bases for Navy SEALs is probably not a smart idea.

I think this kind of map could make a lot of sense, if you think of it as a propaganda mission instead of a serious attempt to conquer anything, similar to the 9/11 attacks. No goals of Al-Qaeda were ultimatelly furthered the those attacks, the twin towers were in no way strategically important targets. The whole point of the attacks was as a display of force, proving to the world that militant islamism could strike overseas, at the enemy's heart. It was no doubt a gigantic short-term propaganda victory.

Any PR faction attempting some kind of military operation on US soil should probably have the same intentions: not to aim for something of proportionate military importance (although it ought to be a legitimate military target to avoid the terrorist connotations) but to show that they're capable of hitting targets far beyond their own borders; that America isn't safe even though the war is happening far away.

I assume everyone can agree that a dedicated special forces unit from any of the PR factions could get into the US if they really wanted.
