Some boats are dropped from helicopters and planes. So that would be another reason they need to be small and lightweight. They also need to be light enough for the boat crew to lift the boat and carry it.

ok that I can understand, but some of the boats posted here are not a zodiac or something like that, more like a bigger rib with a heavier gun, which still is to heavy to carry.

'[R-MOD wrote:Dylan']Personally. I would "like" this for fast insertions. Its a CRRC.
Telling people to make models themselves is kind of a waste of time. I would like nothing more than to have that knowledge so I don't need to ask for things, but only a few people one these entire forums know how.

Nope, that's a Naval Special Warfare 11 meter RIB. A CRRC is a Zodiac inflatable raft, usually the F470 4.7 meter "Commando" model. :)
Gyberg wrote:Okay but how fast? I mean for example, combatboat 90 (yes I know I posted about it in another thread aswell) is covered, bulletproof, does 40 knots, and is able to stop with around 20 meters available.
The published speed of the 11m RIB is around 47 knots loaded.

Their model wasnt too bad, I especially liked the RIB on the stern, but the colors were way too bright IMHO

That's just a plain old inflatable combat rubber raiding craft (CRRC). A rigid inflatable boat has a fiberglass hull with an inflatable collar around it. :)

They also have mis-named that model. It's a Mk V Special Operations Craft. The Patrol Boat Mk IV and Mk III "Sea Specters" have been out of service for a while, now, and they did not in any way resemble the Mk V.

i dont understand y ud want sumthing that is just an oversized rib, the rib sucks! u cant do squad patrols in it coz its a weak unconcealed pos that is hardly made for assaults on .. well anything, and adding a crrc isnt at all a interesting to better then pr mod.. its just another rib styled boat.. we already got 1
i still wait for the day where i can get a squad in a vehicle, and maintain it till the end of the game if used properly(humvee, backhawk, technicals, boats), aswell as doing some good for the rest of the team, rather then weak as things that have no use except getting from A to B then ditched.
the longer ur in a vehicle the more u have sense of ownership and security and learn to love it = fun as

If all falls back to map design. At the moment PR doesn't have any maps with extensive waterways and such. Not to mention the RIBs aren't any good at engaging enemy troops.

Anyone remember playing BFV? Operation Game Warden comes to mind. Almost everyone used the P.B.R quite often. Not only was it fairly powerful (I believe it was armed with dual .50s) but the map had plenty of rivers (narrow and wide) to drive it around. I personally loved using the P.B.Rs back then, had alot of great memories when I shot down planes with those .50 caliber guns WW2 style.

Absolutely. BF:V was probably the best battlefield to play, from the "I'm the americans and I'm in a vehicle" perspective.

Sucked if you a) had to walk anywhere b) where the nva and were thereofre sorely undergunned (I swear to god the only way the NVA ever won was because all the noobs wanted to play USA so all the smart players ended up displaced...)

thats y i rekon u need a speed advantage for the under equiped, makes sense coz they done have much gear to carry(talking about vehicles here not the infantry) u gotta balence it out a bit so ppl desire to go the enemy like being able to strap urself with a nail bomb and run in with a clacker in ur hand and try kill the enemy but also too weak 2 kill armor.
but yeah back on the topic i think a stronger version of a partol boat is needed eg. ribs loaded with infantry trying to land and the armored patrol boats suppress the LZ with heavy machine gun fire(would make sense if the bigger boats have slower acceleration but higher top speed then the rib) i could c that as being killer fun
