China - UK

Northern part of the chinese coast, woodland.

Securing [Insert Chinese Name] SLOC (Sea Line Of Communication)

The beginning of the british campaign against china, air strikes have taken out most of the chinese defense and when the british naval forces move in to take a beach head one of their scout vessels gets sunk by a shore-defense missile. It is now clear that the PLA have well hidden positions in the islands close to the coast.

Intel is sparse and air reconossainse is not able to spot the shore-defense batteries thus eliminating the possibility of airstrikes. One platoon of marines is dispatched and with help from two harriers they are supposed to clear the island from chinese troops.

Another scenario for this map is xtract - The marines are supposed to rescue the surviving sailors from the sunken scout vessel. They are being held as POWs by the chinese. The interesting thing as I se it is that there are several VIP kits, maybe a full squad. All of the kits need to be in the xtract zone at the same time in order to win. This will require alot of between squad co-ordination but it could be very thrilling! Maybe the kit layout for the sailors could be a captured chinese weapon with one extra mag and nothing more.

This is actually a map I've been working on, but Im not a super-mapper so if one of the devs are interested I can show it for them.

A City version of Al Fullajah, every time I play basrah i think of how if i could pop a rocket into "that" fence i could come up behind the enemy. More destructible maps is the way too go!

Borneo jungle

Brit vs China

a very very very dense jungle map with limited visablitys less than 50m in parts and quite hilly aswell with the odd jungle stream (very shallow and small)

a few bunker/pillboxs here and there. wooden and sandbag, no concrete.
perhaps a few custom treehouse statics or elavated towers in the clearings
and lots of ropebridges

a bit like operation ghost train but with thicker forests and less fog and some sunshine but a bit cloudy as its a rainforest.

Operation Black Mantis PR style

http://battlefieldsingleplayer.planetba ... _titel.jpg
remember this map from DC it was one of the best looking maps and it was huge with lots of vehicles and infantry fighting
it was renamed for CO-OP mode called Black Mantis
but the original name was Sulamaniya 2

Short Description
Sulamaniya is a Iraqi city close to the Iranian border. Its desert surrounding serves as an ideal hiding ground for rebel outposts. The city is divided into the old medina and a newly errected quarter close to the harbour area.encounters.

American troops took base in a minor village to start their attack on the harbour area. Iraqui troops hold the crusader fortress of jabal chraden and the medina of sefrahyin.

The map should give plenty of opportunity to practice chopper skills. Still the dense medina provide ground for some closequarter

I have read many ideas I really liked. Here are some of mine!

Flooded urban/suburban/industrial areas (not just some swamp), underwater junk (cars, barrels, structures). Advancement mainly by boat, walking possible but will require regular swimming. HMMWV able to ford some areas, Vodnik (amphibious) should be the primary choice for MEC. Too much junk and obstacles for wider use of APC's. Some helicopters, no attack-variations. No artillery. Objectives could be to secure some important intelligence items lost in a flooding catastrophe. Un-cap bases for both USMC & MEC.

Burning forests or oilfields (can possibly be done with lots of fog and general low visibility - without requiring a humongous client computer). I would opt for the oilfields, with lots of junk, partially bombed out buildings (some burning, some inaccessible, some deadly traps full of insurgents), barrels and trucks in various conditions. AAS game mode. USMC starts at their small un-cap, insurgents have all other bases from beginning. No vehicles.

A nice djungle map, on a half island (but most of the map showing land connected at minimum two ends of map + some shore). USMC starts at sea, then advance by boat on rivers (with risk of drawing attention to engine noise) or by foot (with risk of running into camouflaged bunkers/foxholes etc) to one of a few suitable places to establish an outpost (perhaps at some old long-abandoned WWII-outpost?). Inner parts (with main objectives) should be in a range of mountains with difficult terrain, making natural obstacles which will require long walks to conquer. Almost inaccessible by other means than helicopters (map should only contain scout-class ones). China could parachute to the established base around the USMC main objective or to small fields in the lower jungle (no spawning vehicles, only drop-points, possibly weapons cache). China has uncap around main objective, and USMC should extract intelligence info/pilot/whatever + defend their outpost to win.

Additional jungle-image from Wikipedia. Another image showing dense vegetation and bright sky.

Commando raids against some large secret underground complex (placed in some remote and snowy mountain range). If the sub-terrain levels can be done without making some mad all-houses-clustered-together-bonanza it would be REALLY cool. Especially in partial low-light conditions, mostly CQB with submachineguns, compact assault rifles, shotguns, flashbangs and sometimes night-vision. There should also be some doors requiring 2x C4 charges to breach, which should be covered from above by balconys or some opportunity for defenders to fire on intruders.

What I don't want
  • Too WWII-esque battles.
  • Semi-epic themes like some old famous ruins (what strategic role would they play?).
  • Riots. This is war - NOT some civil unrest. What should we do? Drown them with watercannons and super-soakers?
  • Large empty battlefields, land or sea.
  • Hostage resque. This is a job for police anti-terrorist teams, game style belongs in Rainbow 6-series.
What I want
  • Commando raid maps, suppressed guns on most units.
  • Surprise attack defense, requiring unconventional tactics.
  • Any maps that don't resemble previous maps from BF1942/BF2.
  • A larger city built by western standards.
  • A series of maps in different day-settings (e.g. advancing at day, defending at night).

A larger version of Helmand.

64 players, mainly infantry focused with some light vehicles for the Brits and maybe a few white technicals for the Insurgents. Hilly, with large areas of grassland but a the same time large areas of arid or rocky ground and maybe a tree or two here or there. A small village at one end of the map which the Insurgents are taking cover in, the village is situated within a dip in the landscape, so the hills are overlooking it and it gives the attacking force (the brits) a good height advantage. To offset this though the approach to the village might be quite barren with few examples of light/heavy cover to shelter behind so the Brits will be heavily dependant on their vehicles MG's, supports and Snipers to keep the Insurgents heads down. Otherwise the infantry wont be able to get anywhere near the village. Make the buildings in the village destructible aswell.

A modern take on operation market garden would be interesting, cut off UK/US infantry, an armoured spearhead that has to reach them, and the enemy and rivers to get through on the way. Dunno how it would work with the current game modes though, not really extraction, more a 'relief mission'

Perhaps all the armour could be tagged as a VIP and one has to reach the cut off flags before it is capped by the defending troops, with no resetting of checkpoints. Not sure if extraction and ASS2 would mix like that. Just a wild idea.

well i can safely say we are on track to please about 60% of you in the near future...for the other 40% you are just gonna have to wait....

hehe...

map id like to see...

air strike against desert bunkers... massive AA batteries that need to be first taken out by special operations forces...nearly night time map...lots of open desert with elevation change,,,dont know why desert maps are always flat??

bunkers also need to be entered and cleared after being blown to high heaven... magazines would blow up real huge and bright....

Map inspired by Blackwater CPS incident?

Post by bud01 »

Would it be a good idea for a map to have a defence point such as what happend in real life in Iraq here.

Warrning extream snippering-Adult Content (Not graphic).

So the british/usa team could hold or reinforce a "CPS point, or similar?".

Quote "The 5-man Blackwater crew that was assinged to CPA Najaf were coming under heavy small arms and mortar fire, the city was being taken over by insurgents. The police stations and hospitals were taken over as well, after a day of fighting off hundreds of insurgents the city had been completely overrun, with the CPA in the heart of the city and no way out."

Id really love to hear some feedback on this kind of idea?

Thanks by the way guys for even reading my post.

USMC/GB vs. Russian militia.

64 player map. Really big map.

I would actually like this to be PLA/MEC vs Russian Militia, but dunno if that can happen.

Setting:

What is left of a R. Militia team is in full retreat from a shoot and scoot operation against the PLA. The PLA are pursuing them very aggressively and are close.

The environment is a really an open area, but as you get to the base of a hill/mountain, trees start showing up. The single mountain on the map, has old fox holes, and bunkers that the PLA used there only months or years ago. So the RM will not be familiar with this turf. (they could be, this would allow them to have ammo dumps.)

The spawn in spots for the RM will be in-between the Mountain and the PLA.

The spawn points for the PLA will be behind the RM.

The RM will not have any vehicles.

The PLA will not have any either, but after five mines into the battle, a good five tanks will spawn.

The RM will be bleeding until they capture enough CPs on the mountain. They want to get to the high ground and fast.

Once the RM gets all the flags on the mountain, the PLA will be bleeding.

The idea is for the RM to run to the mountain and secure the flags and set-up a hasty defense. If they have one squad defending them and preventing the PLA from moving in on the mountain, they should be able to do this.

Once the tanks spawn in, the siege on the mountain should take place.

The PLA will have arty to boot.

__

Notes: The PLA seem over powered. Map maker will need to even the odds.

This map setting is completely new, as far as I know.

It is not double assault, nor single assault. The Defenders need to secure the mountain, with no enemies on it, and then dig in. How well they do this, the better. The assaulting team if fast enough and good enough could very well flank the other side of the mountain and try to get the high ground and assault there. Of course this would not work for AASv2 because they would need to secure the lower level flags first. So I guess the way to prevent the PLA from flanking is to make a cliff there or, or make the back of the mountain too steep.

Or it could be like a conquest map, except 7 players are needed to affect a flag orb, thus consintrated battles.

I've only seen it mentioned once so I'll bring it up again, I'd love to see a Brit vs US map. Call it "training" or "The Battle to Retake the Colonies" it would be fun to see what two pretty even teams could do to each other.

I want a really simple linear map, along the lines of EJOD, maybe "Kyhber Pass," a single road, minimal CP's (dome of death on each end to prevent raping), steep hills that are passable by foot, vehicles stuck on the valley floor. MEC vs GB/US/PLA. No arty, no air, no armor, no cover, no mercy.

Anything based in Afghanistan really. Mountainous terrain with a nice city that the insurgents overran.

Silence :

A night map where the insurgents have occupied a small coastal village on the Gulf of Oman. The USMC had failed an aerial operation the day before and lost all of their helicopters. Now they must assault the fortified beach using nothing but their LAVs and RIBs. Gota go to work, will edit later with more details.
