I can’t say for certain but I believe that those blood spurts you see aren’t registered hits. Granted, the hit boxes for BF2 aren’t as bad as CSS or BF42 but you still get a little bit of lag where you see a hit but it doesn’t actually register on the hit box of a moving target.
As for the second one, I don’t even know. Maybe you are getting shot from the flanks? You lose a lot of situational awareness in this game. That’s why I love the third person views in FH and ArmA. It helps you make up for some of that. Also, your crosshairs are level with your chest. So if you crouch to see over something more of your body is exposed that you would actually want to expose. Its just limitations of the game engine.
Plus, some of these guys play PR a ton. So their mouse aim might as well be wire guided.

Welcome to the forums...

and please don`t blame the the PR Team for problems which indeed are caused by the BF2-Engine they have to work with?

* Use the search function and have a look on the hit-detection of the engine. (There are nice videos on youtube to prove the crappy hit detection)

* Sometimes when you have the feeling that you are behind an object which gives you cover this object isn`t there for the other players. Has to do with your graphic options, the view distance and the field of view...also a "problem" of the BF2-Engine.

Cheers

Sometimes as a sniper you can just see the top of a guys helmet as he's over the brow of a hill. He can't see you, but you get a satisfying head shot.

Yeah in reality you should be able to see there head over the brow of a hill. His gun would be chest level.

THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN ,I spot enemy and get him in my sights (spec ops) i fire and hit him atleast 3/4 times blood spurts etc then he/she? shoots back whilst moving from standing to prone position and instantly either wounds or kills me. This is not realistic having served in the Corps and knowing marksmanship principles it would be impossible to do this so personally i think this should be addressed after all it is PROJECT REALITY so lets make it as realistic as poss, together with the fact that 3/4 high velocity 5.56 mm rounds have just ripped through him i dont quite think there would be any capacity to hold a weapon let alone fire it accuratley.
Please remember that this is a modifyed version of BF2. BF2's engine was not designed for what we all know it should have been. Things like hitbox detection(getting shot) can be quite poor at times in the game and noithing can be done, unless you can persuade Dice to come back down from 2142 and do some work.
Personaly, I find that my ping may affect my hit detection badly. on server with about 200ping, i find it may take around 4(5.5) shots to kill someone and some of those are ignored. however, on a server with 60ish ping, i find it may take two(5.5).
buckrogers050676 wrote: 2. BULLETS THAT ARE WIRE GUIDED , another anoying part of the game is when you come under fire and take cover, you know roughly where it has come from so you watch your arcs and low and behold your attacker sneakily deploys underhand tactics in the form of heat seeking bullets which can hug the contours of the land or alternativley pass through the ground and kill you
i actually thought that if you cant see over the brow of a hill it would apply to the person on the other side but this doesnt appear to be the case maybe he's friends with the 6 mill dollar man and they went to some special night school classes? any comments would be appreciated still think the game overall is awesome and i have a session penciled in for later so see you on the battle field guys...........
Personaly I find your view in BF2 seems to be at best in your chin or neck. Remember to account for this, when hiding behind cover. Also, when crouch walking behind cover, your head tends to expose itself. Also, limbs have to be thought of also(i dont think feet and hands can be shot unfortunately). Over the years i have noticed that i still managed to get killed when i have literaly just got behind cover. I think this may have something to do with connection. Not a problem, but the fact that infomation is being wired very quickly at long distances and then has to be processed bu the server, then your comp. Just think that you see yourself a split second earlyer than where you body is and you see the enemy a split second later than he can see/shoot. This efeect seems to result in people shooting before they come around corners and still killing you(like perfect sims on perfect dark lol).
I doubt either of these things can be changed or changed easily.

Please consider what position you will be playing and your ping before doing anything.

Ah, because that would surely solve the realism issues in PR. I imagine most soldiers nowadays have eyeballs that hover about four feet behind and above them. ¬_¬

Nah, only kidding. I myself prefer First person, as it's more of a immersive feel. Of course, immersion counts for nil points when you've been shot by a guy standing three feet to your left, which you would have seen in real life but cannot in First Person. But I prefer just to say "eh", and get them back later (most usually in the form of some EXPLODEYAGE!).

What we really need is some sort of "Virtual boy" type peripheral, to be able to see around.

I think the biggest issue in the original post here is the "Prone" issue. I hate it when guys go leaping to the ground and shoot me in the head at the same time (mid-flight) when I have the advantage of being prone already and firing..HELL not even Rambo has done that. Always makes me think the bad guy is glitching...maybe that just helps me feel better. So yeah...this really needs to be addressed, its one of those gameplay issues that in my mind is a real barrier between real world tactics and this game. I mean, I position myself well...to achieve the advantage...yet it helps me only sometimes due to the "Floppers" being so good at what they do. This allows for the "run and gun" tactics to function similar to BF2 still. We need to reduce the accuracy of the gun when flopping...and provide a delay of some sorts as to how fast a guy who just hit the dirt can aim perfectly. Implement this into the "getting" up function as well. Fix this, and we will see a lot more guys "REALISTICALLY" fire and moving from the crouch...as proning will have realistic disadvantages/advantages. This is probably my #1 issue at the moment.

May I remind you that, the PR team has worked their asses off to make PR as realistic as possible, its still a game so its not gonna be as realistic as life, it is close tho :D

Ah Buckrogers - I see they have finally let you out of the lunatic asylum! Ha-ha :) . I have some sympathy with the issues raised here, although do believe the Devs are massively restricted by the BF2 engine. I think its unlikely they will pursue with BF2 longer term, as I seem to remember reading somewhere that they had another game engine in their sights…Cant remember what it was called though?

Just take the opportunity to say thank you again to everyone involved in this project for all their hard work – my wife is particularly grateful, for not having to see me outside of work hours :) .

See you all on the BF 8-)
