Performance Tweaks for the non-geek PR player.
Well I am making this thread as many people have been complaining about lag issues. If you turn off conformant texture clamp it is known to dramatically improove performance (also from personal experience).
DO NOT USE THIS GUIDE IF YOU HAVE AN "UBER" SYSTEM!!!
For the older NVidia drivers:
(Texture clamp determines if textures bleed together, like when have dirt and sand next to eachother)
If you want to turn off texture clamp go into your desktop properties, select advanced, go to the tab with your cards name, then select performance and find texture clamp in the advanced settings.
For the new NVidia drivers: With the new NVidia Control panel.
(Texture clamp determines if textures bleed together, like when have dirt and sand next to eachother)
Right click your desktop, select "NVidia Control Panel", go to 3D Settings, hit "Adjust image settings with preview", select "Use the Advanced 3D Image settings", click apply then hit the blue link that says Take me There, and texture clamp will be in there.
If you have Trilinear optimization on turn it off IF you are able to run Anistropic filtering (if you are running with trilinear or bilinear use this setting, it will increase performance). Turn both Anistropic optimizations on (dont worry if one of them turns back off, leave it like that).
You should also turn off Extension Limits (this will turn limits on values off, such as letting you see farther, if I am wrong someone correct me), Verticle Sync (forces the framerate not to exceed the monitors refresh rate), and Triple buffering(optimizes Vert Sync). If you experience graphical anomalies, turn Verticle Sync AND Triple Buffering back on, you always want Vert Sync and TB on or off at the same time, they are a type of linked setting.
For better info you guys should go to TweakGuides <--- Link
I didnt take this stuff from their site but they have some very useful tips for games like BF2 and others (BF2142 also).
If this does not work check your video settings and see if Texture detail is on high, if it is on turn it to medium, this also increased my performance dramatically.
I hope I helped you guys out some.
NOTE:
I will try to update this thread if ANY misinformation is givin to me through E-mail or a PM.

Ill Update it.

'[PR wrote:AC3421']Longer you use an account, the more stats it has to load.
That's true, but I've tried to rename My Docs/BF2 folder, first load created new one, I logged in with that old account, and loading was very quick.
I've tried to delete, in old BF2 folder, contents of LogoCache folder with many severs in, but that didn't helped also.

El_Vikingo has it.
I had reached the point where login was taking up to three minutes. ONe day I deleted all the "Favourites" in the game browser. Login now takes about six seconds.
It's easy to do and well worth it.

Hey, all!Makee wrote:Can anyone tell me how can I speed up loading of PR, except renaming of these bink videos. If I'm using my account loading takes very very long, but on other side if I use new account it loads up almost instantly.
Any help?
This is my first post at PRF, so I figure in the name of teamwork I would make this a helpful post.
This is a fer'sher fix. My goal: If you join 2 minutes faster that will give me an extra opp. to send you back to spawn'ville.
Cause for delay:
When people create new accounts, as well as, delete and retrieve accounts your primary account gets bumped further and further down the list of noob accounts in master server logs. It takes time to wade thru the accounts before you 'till it gets to ur Uber account, thus after clicking Login you are forced to pick your nose awhile, take a squirt or go grab some Bawls.
Temp fix:
Go to "manage accounts" delete your account from the list and then retrieve the account. (Make sure you remember your PW or email address associated with account before you delete.)
Your account should come up in under 6 secs after clicking login.
***Downside:
You will have to remap all of your keys and JS settings, audio, video etc. because they'll be reset to default. (First remap took me about 5 minutes and Ive remapped a lot of the keys and also use a Saitek X52 J.S. with a riddle of buttons)
You could copy folders that contain your settings and paste them in appropriate folders to save time. I have a folder now for all of my settings after I got wise to this login delay.
As time goes by your login will take longer and longer. I usually delete/retrieve my account once a month. Paste settings in seconds an viola!
First 20 logins are under 6 seconds according to Saitek JS stop watch.
Now get out there and squad up!!
BTW if your whole squad gets knifed in tall grass... Its Tragik! /\ºlpha style

ok and heres the simple version that takes a minuite and requires no setting changes or anything afterwards
ok step one.
C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\general.con open this file via word/wordpad.
step 2. scroll down to the bit where it says 'GeneralSettings.addServerHistory ' its a good way down.
step 3.
delete all of your server favorites just leaving the bit saying 'GeneralSettings.addServerHistory '
step 4.
save and login you should now have a 5-10 second login
step 5.
enjoy PR
not: i am not responsable for any mishaps that happen if this isnt followed correctly. as added precaution save the general.con file in word/wordpad for safe keeping
