Both the smoke from regular smoke grenande and that from the GL are very effective if used properly. The smoke grenade takes at least 20 seconds before it is mostly deployed and effective. The smoke from the GL can provide good cover even though it is not as thick as that from the regular 'nade. You have to wait until after it hits and then starts to deploy and spread out. I often will shoot it in/onto the enemy position if I know where it is preventing them from seeing me.

The closer you put the smoke in the face of the enemy the larger the effect on him. If you drop smoke in front of yourself then you will be the only one blinded by it. Then you won't need super large smoke plums. Take a sheet of printer paper and hold it out at arms length with both hands. You can see around it fairly easy right? Now move the sheet of paper right up to your face. All of a sudden you can't see anything in the room now can you? Cause the paper is up very close to your eyes right. Same idea with smoke nades.
Get the smoke so close that it makes there eyes water, and let them choke on the smoke instead of you and your team. IF YOU PUT SMOKE RIGHT IN THE ENEMIES FACE IT WILL COVER HIS ENTIRE FIELD OF VIEW. I'm not shouting at anyone I just wanted that statement to stand out. So many times I've seen players toss smoke nades or M203 smoke nades about 20 ft away. That does nothing for then, cause the only view they block is their own. If the enemy is in an alley way then put the smoke INTO the alley way, not just out in front of it. If you put smoke onto there position then they can not see anything and will have to leave that place. Also if they wander thru the smoke looking for you they can't see ****, not to mention that they will silhouette themselves against the smoke while not being able to see. Thus an easy kill for you. SO PUT THE SMOKE ONTO THEIR POSTIONS, AND NOT ONTO YOUR OWN POSTION. Again not shouting here. lol. Hell, go so far as to try and hit them with the smoke nade as if you are trying to bust them in the head with a rock. If all this has been said already, then I'll just be quiet then

What I cant understand is people smoking the location that they are defending, I mean that is doing the job for the enemy isn't it? Providing them cover so that they can move in on you. Hate it when people do that, I want to have a clear shot on the enemy if the come around a corner!
Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

Thats exactly the sort of thing I was referring to in my post. That sucks balls when someone on your side smokes the area for the enemy to get to you more easily. That happens all the time. At least 2 or more times per round. Drives me nuts too.Gyberg wrote:What I cant understand is people smoking the location that they are defending, I mean that is doing the job for the enemy isn't it? Yea this annoys the hell outta me too...especially on Muttrah. If MEC have taken then docks and USMC are rollin in their to reclaim, why do alot of marines start tossing smoke around inside the docks??? It does my head in...Gyberg wrote:What I cant understand is people smoking the location that they are defending, I mean that is doing the job for the enemy isn't it? The amount of times ive seen that happen only to have MEC roll up to the side doors undetected and start lobbin frags in and picking off USMC.
Keep the smoke for when its really needed....like after sex

Smoke is better than it was (at least on my machine). It could be better. Too bad the smoke in the video flops around with the wind. It looks much more effective than the puff of smoke we get now.
Vehicles need a serious boost to their smoke systems. In addition, tanks should have smoke rounds in their current payload.
