Honestly, this is really the part of Project Reality that devfile24/7 spawns.

as much as it kinda harbors alot of gameyness and sometimes over done feeling, at other times it really demonstrates a teaching method. because its so defined vehicle wise, it sets up alot of squad definition more than other maps. people learn to play that way, then when they go to other maps it carries on.

I'd like to propose a possible variation for the A-10 squad for your consideration and discussion:

Both A-10's in one squad, plus a SL on the ground working as a Forward Air Controller (FAC). This is how CAS is handled IRL, you've got a guy on the ground talking to a flight of birds overhead waiting for targets. When a target presents the FAC will call for a strike. In PR you can use the "ATTACK HERE" marker as a "poor BF2 player's" SOFLAM. The commander can still call for strikes, but unless a special request comes up from another squad it would be the FAC's job to spot. The ideal kit is SF, you can move fast, have good self protection abilities, and have a very powerful set of binoc's to spot targets. Possible variation would be to combine the sniper and A-10 squad, so you'd have a SL Sniper and a SF spotter on the ground, just as long as the SL was disciplined enough to stop sniping and call for air support when it was needed.

There can be a problem with poorly managed aircraft attacking the same target, but if done right (set up attack corridors, only call for one jet by name at a time, alternate rearming runs) you can provide a sustained air strike on a target.

The only problem I can see with using the "ATTACK HERE" mark is that damned little smoke grenade that marks your target. Enemy get wise to it pretty quick and run like hell when one shows up on their position. I suppose that's hard coded as well?

Yes, I agree entirely.

and please guys, do not join "VOIP" squad if you do NOT have a working mic.

There is a saying I have, blues are worse than reds, cause reds can't steal your chopper.

I really despise people who name their squads VOIP Only or something like that. It's kind of a stupid thing to me. To some extent, I'd sometimes rather have a squad with no mics, because the chatter can make it hard to give commands. I see the advantages but, still, VOIP Only is unfair.

Are people so secluded, that they take a couple of weeks to pick up a mic!?!

I was playing with DesertFox, he didn't have one either, (broken)?!

You guys from america can get in your cars, drive a couple of meters to the shops and get your mics, maybe get a bigmac on the way!

If you are reading this dont stop, cause if you do, I'll kick you in the balls.

I usually name my squad BeerHunter. And I'm serious =D

Always use teamwork, and often voip if they have it on the server.

However, I believe having combined arms squads is very important, since most of the time, the commander is either nonexistant or not capable. Thus, I can place an attack this location marker, and bam, my squadmate in an A10 can see it exactly, see the smoke, see the "alt-key" marker, and tear it apart. Pretty much, I act as a FAC with a squad backing me up.

seriously.. it is ridiculous, i know this idiot named archer who keeps saying "I'm going to get one this weekend" every fk-ing weekend!! well.. he is from Canada.. so that might have something to do with it ;-)

I normally name my squad DIRKABIKE or AIRSUPPORT, depending on which side I'm on..

We like VOIP only because it is impossible to function fully as a squad without full and quick communication. You can hardly spot that incoming fire team if you can't even afford to stick your head up but how else you gonna ask for backup? by the tie yu've typed it you're probably dead anyway.

If you can't give commands over the chatter order your squad to shut up and i'll bet you 9/10 PR players would.

"Fuzzburner"

My squad, join it...

It's created when Fuzz is on the server, but on the opposing team. But I sort of create it whenever I'm on now.

now that I think of it, would be very cool if all users on a server could join the same ventrilo server, would solve all squad problems in PR, or say if there was a script for a vent server that auto moved players from one team or squad to another as they moved, kind of like a query to the Bf2 server now to check scores, not sure what other kind of information is available to be sent with the query other than score / team? (squad?)
