Movement Orders on the Main Map
Would it be possible for SLs to see the movement orders of other squad on his 'm' map, like the commander does, to enable him to better co-ordinate his movements with other squads, especially if the commander isn't there/isn't any good?
This would be useful for deciding where to go and whether to attack/defend a point. If there are already 2 squads going somewhere, you can go somewhere else/defend, rather than get half-way, have to turn back, only to find someone else has also noticed this and has also turned back etc etc...

Don't think this is possible. And as far as I'm concerned, I think an SL should talk his squad through the plan he's got in his head. That way members can think with him and stuff. Communication is the key, as alwaysGuerra norte wrote:Also it would be nice if SL's could set multiple waypoints so they could plot a route, but I'm willing to bet all of my asshair that it's not possible...

well you could always communicate with them.. either through the commander by voip or by typing in the team chat. I don't think it would be that good if we could magically know where the other squads are going. And it would require the devs to spend their time doing something that the players could easily solve by themselves.IAJTHOMAS wrote:Would it be possible for SLs to see the movement orders of other squad on his 'm' map, like the commander does, to enable him to better co-ordinate his movements with other squads, especially if the commander isn't there/isn't any good?

Well i guess that's the reason why we have COMMANDER in the first place.IAJTHOMAS wrote:Would it be possible for SLs to see the movement orders of other squad on his 'm' map, like the commander does, to enable him to better co-ordinate his movements with other squads, especially if the commander isn't there/isn't any good?

Some servers have it disabled, votes hardly ever work anyway. Just thought it would save alot of radio chatter, give you an 'at a glance' idea of the situation, info which a SL should have.'[R-CON wrote:DJJ-Terror']Well i guess that's the reason why we have COMMANDER in the first place.

But yeah, I can your point. Perhaps with the commander changes more people will want to be commander and will become competent at it. Maybe wishful thinking in some cases though

That would be so awesome.ubiquitous wrote:Hehe, you should have to log in using a forum i.d. with a post count over 1000 to be able to get into the commander role.
I do wish that commanders had some sort of qualification process required before commanding on a PROS/ABR server. I wish the same thing for requestable kits and pilots.
Oh yeah, and multiple waypoints and cross-squad waypoint viewing would be awesome, if already suggested.

*bump*
An amazing idea dawned on me and I had to get it out before I forget/realize its stupid and/or useless.
I searched and looked in already suggested and found this(through already suggested suggestions). its related enough so here goes:
A Squad Leader is given another 2~3 "Spotted" objects which use either Numbers of Letters which appear as something spotted(or Question Mark) on the minimap to tell fireteam one to go here, and fireteam 2 to go there.
I know it sounds trivial, but it would be nicer than having to say All look at minimap, 1 go here(hold on, let me bring up my big map and place move marker, now 2 go.... hold on... here)
With two or three symbols added to the commo rose it would be simply looking out in the distance and "spotting" where you want them to go. You wouldnt have to give a new waypoint just to show them. You could leave the original/final destination up on the maps but the 1,2,3 symbols would go away after a few seconds like the ?'s do...
Once again, I know this isnt anything big, but it would make things a bit smoother and maybe even a bit more professional for Squad Leaders...?
I dont know if adding new minimap spotted icons is possible, but itd be nice...
Thoughts?
Example (maybe it could even be made green by somehow making it similar to a move command, but it would be through spotting menu?) i can easily see this being hardcoded though...

To clarify, this would be for the SL to better command his squad, not for the Commander

I think the most important function of the commander is communication between squads.
When I'm having a good game as commander most of what I am doing is relaying info from squad to squad so everyone knows what I know.
Had a few really good games on Friday where my SL were giving me lots of feedback and that really made the difference to the other squads, knowing what they were facing up ahead.

And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Okita - that is a sick idea! Although having it displayed on the spotted list would make it quite slow to mark. Therefore when you press Q, instead of the 1, 2 and 3 options being displayed when you right click on the centre spotted circular button, they are displayed down the side with the other buttons, like need back up.
I think 2 buttons would definitely be enough becuase even if you have 3 fireteams, 1 includes yourself and all persons in that can just follow you - SIMPLE!
