Hello

Now that some brilliant swede has made a pilot traning map i am enyoning to fly around quite a bit.
but there is some thing that bothers me about the merlin

1. why are there only room for 6 people in the merlin? i would be alot better if there was room for 7 ( 1 pilot and a squad)
2. when piloting and looking backward you can se straight to the back rotor... free look, as far to the left as possible then press alt fire.
3. the front of the dash bord seems pretty dark...

but any ways i love the chopper! and the game, and the persons who made it :P

would be cool if it has 8 seats and a mobil spawn point .

Choppers don't need to be mobile spawn points. Rather people should spawn at main, request a chopper, and take that to a desired location.

i'd be happy if APC's role and Helo's role as spawn points got changed. although, you cant really justify either of them being spawn points.

Merlin needs to sit 8 people, but dev's already now. Also believe they might be getting some door gunner weapons?

Can't put 8 people in one vehicle, I think.

But I do love the thing. Been playing around with it on that training map (Ghost Train isn't really a helo map; shame on you for putting it in there, Rhino!), and I really love it for low-level, high speed flying and insertions. Come to think of it, I think I'll have a go at it again now...

well, the batleship mod has his ships with 8 seats , same for the c130 of DCon

NH-90 in PoE I think has 9.

Oh damn. Haven't played with that thing (the NH-90) for a long time. Can't remember the number of seats. I think it has something to do with the number of meshes or something. But I'm no Dev, so I shouldn't really answer this.

Transport choppers should really be more of a 8-9 person thing...
1 pilot, 2 dedicated gunners/engineers, and the ability to transport a whole squad...
Then we might finally be able to make dedicated transport helo squads legitimate..
Splitting a squad into two seperate insertions against your will is no fun..

I think helicopters shouldn't be mobile spawn points. Their role is different to that of APCs: more transport than infantry support. Also, using helicopters as troop ferries is more practical because they are so much faster and can fly in a big arc around the danger zones to get back to base.

Besides, the dynamic of being picked up at base by a good pilot is too much fun.

No mobile spawn choppers. Definitely second that.
But again, for the good pilot picking your squad up and dropping you off idea to work, we need 8-9 seats per transport helo...
Was onboard engineer/gunner for this transport squad on basrah the other night on TG...hella fun. But it was lame having to do 2 runs a squad..

the max amounto of seats is 8 (check in the bf2 control options)

and about the mobile spawn , how can you simulate the fact that mi17 and merlins can move 30 people in one travel ?

The BH can handle up to 24 people since it is made of three meshes.

Yeah I know about the mi choppers but the fact is that PR is fought by "armies" of 32 people per side max and having something that can zip around one end of the battlefield to the other in under a minute AND be able to spawn people seems rather detrimental to the gameplay aspect.
Also, if choppers started becoming mobile spawns, we'd see them used as park and forget travelling rally points, which just isnt as fun as having them zip to and from the base, picking up squads and actually inserting them

Well, thats still good =)
A dedicated pilot, one gunner/engineer
And a full squad of 6!

Still better than having to make 2 runs =D

Great…now when a noob pilot tries to take off it's going to kill 7 of his buddies instead of five :D .
