i realize lonewolfs are bad especially in PR but in real life doesnt a sniper either work alone or with maybe just a spotter? in that case wouldnt a lone wolf sniper be acceptable practice in PR and not really detrimental to the gameplay. it would suck though as far as communication {voip} i dont think going it alone is necessarily bad as long as it is done in the right way. a lone marine running around vanilla BF style
but a lone sniper on a rooftop or maybe a special forces
just like in real life!

A Sniper and Spotter already need to be safe mate, they both need to know they are in a perfectly safe spot. USMC Sniper Teams have recently been taking a extra man with them that Carry's a SAW so he can cover the entrance if they are operating in a Urbanised area, while the spotter and the shooter work together.
But the Shooter and the Spotter are disliking that due to the fact that they have to watch out for another person when getting out of their or in their.
They have taken a 3rd man due to the fact that some Sniper Teams have been snuck up on and their bodies mutilated by insurgents.

Not really mate, Australian Snipers in PR community actually to reconnasince and do their job quite well, to them helping the team is doing recognisance and yes taking out specific targets requested by units or the CO.zeroburrito wrote:Snipers are very important..they get many kills and not many deaths. Helps the team big time. Remember, kills are the most important thing in pr right now.

Well a sniper can be by himself but not a lonewolf at the same time.
For example when I get a sniper kit most of the time I'll find a place where I can snipe at targets where my squad is or where they want to go. Thus even if I'm not 'with' them I can still help them.
A sniper off in the desert shooting random guys that are also off by themselves probably isn't helping his team much.

I rarely use the sniper kit as most maps aren't big enough to be practical for sniping, but when I do I usually take whatever shots I can and at the same time I spot whatever enemy I see.
However, I usually use the marksman kit as I find it much more useful in squad tactics as you can remain close to your squad.

You can remain close with your squad even with a sniper rifle, cause you have two zoom levels.
Just the sniper must be good enough and there is no problem using sniper rifle on a DMR position in the squad.
When i am SL on open maps i usually use DMR or Sniper in my squad.

The sniper that set a world record for the kill made at the longest distance was in a 5 man team...
As a sniper, to support the team effort you don't have to actually be with a squad or cover it, that being the DM's job. An experienced sniper could easily kill a whole enemy squad that's trying to flank his team just as you could almost stop the flow of enemy infantry reinforcements by covering a well used enemy route...
The DMRs are a bit too powerful at the moment, probably lowering the rate of fire might be good idea.

Snipers suck atm, cause they cant do thier Job. Why? spotting. Its rubbbish, you can only identify troops targets as "infantry" or "sniper". and with the engagement range the sniper should operating at you cant see the weapon the oposistion has equiped.
The snipers role should be to eleminate KEY targets, as bolt rifles are such slow ROF, compared to DM why bother with sniper just for boosting K
ratios when DM is so much better?
So when you spot a target it should come up on the minimap with "officer" "mgunner" "anti tank"(heavy AT) "SAM infantry", and the non limited kits just as infantry.
Also a problem for and against snipers, is the snipers correct engagement range is further than the non collidable flora draw distances, making any of the non collidable cover more of an annoyance to people in it than offering the percieved cover.
Another problem with snipers... damage, now the M24 sometimes it takes 3 rounds to bring down a armored troop - whats the point? Any chest shot should be kill /w or w/o armor, and 2 shots max on limbs? dunno about the BF2 hitboxes.

I don't know why most of the ppl are mad to the snipers!
I am sniper man in Omega Forces Clan and i every match we have I am sniper - suad leader that coordinate the defence.
You just can't imagine how good i feel when i save buddies life by killing enemy and hear "Thank you m8" in my headphones. This is the real pleasure from beeing sniper, not the hundreds meters lucky shots.
