Aim for the head.

Only take the shot you know when the enemy is not looking at you.

Take the shot when the enemy is standing still.

Priority No.1 - Squad Leaders. ( The one with the Support Kit outfit, but with a Rifle)

If engaged, fall back/Move.

Cover Areas where you KNOW the enemy will be. (Bridges)

Be Patient.

Shooting every target is not necessary. Don't rush your Work.

Go to the toilet before you start sniping.

Take Pride in your sniping, and get yourself a a G5 or G7 Mouse.

Sniping on Ejod Desert is fun. There are some wide open spaces around the town and if you want to shoot at long ranges, you have to take into account the distance to the target. If you keep your distance, it's pretty hard to be seen, especially if you're hiding in a bush. While grass isn't drawn at great distances, the bushes are, and they make some good concealment.

I do if they're stationary, but if they are moving i will go for the center, as im not good enough to gauge leading the target and bullet fall for headshots :-(
So i end up hitting thier chest or a limb, and the M24 does too little damage to these areas than the other standard sniper rifles seam to do, and well with the 50.cal shoot someones toe and they die

At the range you should be sniping from, the character model changes with view distance so you cant see by uniform what class they are (snipers arent wear guilli suit)etc, the weapon model also does not appear (just the holding animation) so you cant tell

Lefthanded so no can do
All good points, esp the toilet one  - luckly theres no need to worry about trigger pull in games though  but to due the coding of the game we cant always carry out those points :-(

Personally, I think that the sniper/marksman kit ruins PR.
PR seems to be written around teamwork and movement and support.

Snipers work alone or in 2 man pairs (never seen this in game though)

The sniper kits give range to "kill seekers", a chance to reach out and touch someone from a LONG distance. Complaints of damage? You gotta be kidding me. Most snipers/marksman just shoot shoot shoot until the target goes down. They don't follow the 1 shot 1 kill mantra.

Couple this with the fact that 2 marskmen, and 1 sniper snakes a full HALF the squad from realistic duty....well that's just annoying. That leaves a squad leader, 1 medic, and 1 rifleman. That's not a very good combo.

If you ask me (and I know you didn't), it'd be great if there were only bolt action sniper rifles, and they had a reload time of a good 5 secs. If you miss, or just barely wound your target, then they deserve a chance to move and escape. None of this just throwing bullets from long range to get kills.

Or possibly limit each team to a maximum of 2 snipers, 2 marksman, or something like that. I don't know.

I'm an assault support guy, give me a medic kit, or some ammo and i'll be johnny on the spot and charging into the fray.

Sniper rifles are for sissy girl, goat riding, chumps who wanna do naughty things to Richard Simmons.

*grins*

RELOCATE!

Sorry, just wanted to say it, I've seen too many people get killed time and time again by going to the same place 10 times in a go.

First off, crappy snipers are useless. They get KDR's of 2-10 and wonder why I'm cursing them out in chat.

Second, Every single sniper rifle EVERY SINGLE SNIPER RIFLE requires at most 2 rounds to kill. Unarmored target is 1 shot to the head/chest 2 to the limbs. Armored is 2 to chest/limbs 1 to head. Go test this before spouting off like a smuck.

There is something like 2 sniper rifles/2 marksmen kits per team. Its actually variable depending upon how many are on the server. Stop playing on the retarded CTU or wtfever server and see for yourself.

I fracking hate snipers. If you are in my squad, with me as SL, and you go sniper or marksman, I will tk you and kick you out. I'll whip out my pistol and shoot you right in the head.

I hate them beyond anything. They are useless loners and kill hogs. They are the remnants of vanilla noobs in PR. Very, very, very rarely will I allow a Squad member to get a marksman kit, but a sniper kit is OUT OF THE QUESTION.

Anyways. I hate snipers. The end.

I would far prefer to play sniper than any other class, seeing as I am usually running as SL I rarely if ever use Sniper kit anymore.

The sniper if played right can wreak havok on an area and do a team the world of good.

Snipers should get a mega bonus for assasinating opposing commanders.
My favourite pastime on vanilla was hunting the commander down.

Well, reading the past messages explains, why the 2 guys giving me company left me, as I got in position to snipe some GBs on the Airport map...then bleeded out to death, when I got shot..at least they could come to laugh their *** of at adieing sniper and frag some Brits...lol

Well, I bet you mostly hate snipers, cos they kill you, when you think, you have got away with it, hehe...but if youre getting pushed back by a machine gun, which you cant see, and putting your head up tears it off your body..then you'll be happy, when a sniper saves your butt killing the machine gunner...

I do hate snipers, even when Im one...must be the vanilla, when they all went snipers and thought, they are uber leet pwners, cos they killed all in the head with their pussy L96...most of them got an ownage PCs and connection...

Maybe its just me but I've had the chance to work with quiet a few "squad snipers" and they work just like they should. We move around and use the sniper for spotting and covering the team (like ghost train crossing the river)...then the sniper catches up after we've moved...once we get ready to take an area the sniper/marksmen gets into position...after we take an area I (SL) tell the sniper to go scout ahead and cover the avenues...its awesome! I really enjoy it when that happens...doesn't work on all maps of course. You sniper haters are funny...most are just too predictable, not taking proper positions...its probably more than snipers who are "sniping" you

ONe SF + one sniper in a squad can really, really raise hell, tactically. There's something about not being able to stick your head out in your own base that really drives the other side crazy.

I don't care about enemy snipers. They don't often kill me or my squadmates. I mostly get killed from grenades and automatic rifle fire as I typically stay within confined spaces where snipers are virtually useless.

I hate when snipers are in my squad. They never get the highest kills, its always some awesome tank crew that get the most kills, or in infantry battles the guy with the support kit. Snipers are the worst team players. They move too slow, they don't/can't cap flags, they're useless. Marksman in nice in some occasions, but the sniper is useless to me. Picking off one guy and letting three walk by is useless to me. Highest K :D ratios I've seen were not from snipers.

The only people who can claim higher KDR's than me are those that get lucky a-10/Gunship runs. That's it. And that's only on certain maps. Difference is I can do it every time on most every map.

But KDR's don't mean much. Often times those with the highest KDR's still lose the round. A sniper isn't just killing the enemy, its killing the RIGHT enemy. Hitting the squad leaders, which are hard to spot unless you know what to look for. Spotting enemy APC's and tracing where the enemy is coming from. Picking off key kits like medic's and HAT.

Lol I like it, I'm a huge sniper fan even though I rarely play them...not of the noob or average guys...but of the pros...its an interesting art, I do mean that too. I think we could all take a lesson from them...with dying being the main reason for ticket loss...using some real world sniper techniques of fire and move...retreat...and less gunning/running/proning/nading. Most of the time when I'm a SL, keeping your guys on the conservative is like trying to hold back a team of horses. Everyone wants to dive into the action...but last time I had guys that listened it was good...but at the end of the round they say "wow we hardly got a lot of kills...yet we still destoryed them (capped CP) and were #1 squad". Fire/move/retreat over your old position after a fight. All good things, but I'm rather new here and now I'm just talking...I can't wait to see what the tournament looks like though.

Just the sniper must be good enough and there is no problem using sniper rifle on a DMR position in the squad.
When i am SL on open maps i usually use DMR or Sniper in my squad.
I know. I am just saying it is more practical to have a DM moving with the squad rather than a sniper.
