Medic issues

Post by Outlawz7 »

I do like to play Medic most of the time, but there are two issues, that piss me off...

1. No cover from the revived - most of the time, when I revive someone, he'll face me or we'll get stuck in each others asses like the 69 position....
Im defenseless with my med kit in my hands, so when someone spots us, Ill die with a bag in my hands and the other guy will cough to death up my butt.

For god sakes, cover your medics!

2. Not so common, but sometimes, when I revive someone, he rans off half dead and bleeds to death in some hole while hiding.
Im asking the R-DEVS, if they could add a message at the top, when you revive someone and he doesnt get meded, like a warning "player123 needs medical attention" or "player123, you neeed medical attention after being revived"

Think, the second one might work, as the first one would probably get displayed, whenever someone got wounded.

Thats my rant for the evening...

Agreed.

Don't look at me when I'm healing you. Try to cover us so we don't get ambushed.

And if you're healing me and I say "Thanks", that's NOT your cue to stop. Your cue to stop is when I'm fully healed.

More agreed.

When someone medics you, follow him to where ever he leads you.
Medics should retreat to a safe place to further heal those he revived.

I'm finding the lack of medics these days to be disturbing, or worse yet, the ones where they ignore you if you aren't in their squad!

When I revive someone, I yell "follow me!" and back into a safer spot to heal them. If they want to run off like a dumbass that's their problem.

Yeah, I push "Follow Me!" and run for cover, if they stay on the open or run like crazy I let then die. And some Medics need to learn, if the player is under fire, DON'T revive him, he WILL get shot over and over, aways kill the enemy that killed the guy first, then run to revive and get back to cover. Or if he was killed by a sniper or there are mutiple enemys throw a couple of smoke granade, wait until it take effect and then run for revive and take cover.

Once I was revived 5 times under fire, the enemy was just killing me and the medic only stoped reviving when he ran out of battery.

That's what I do when I'm playing sensibly. Sometimes I heal them just for the points or if I have reason to believe they have some decent fighting skills.
Generally, if they don't have enough common sense to move a few meters to where you are then they probably aren't worth saving or are bleeding out so badly they can't see anything. If it's the latter I might save them if they aren't too exposed. If they are I won't take the risk right away.
I do go out of my way to save SLs.

For those that are reading this you can help a medic out by popping your smoke.

More than I hate the dumb soldier that I'm supposed to heal I hate medics that run off after reviving someone without further treating them even more.

Having said all that most of the rounds I play in Zen. I go on autopilot and am generally pretty aggressive. So even as a medic I might not be paying as much attention to the wounded soldiers all the time as I am where the enemy is. The thing is this works pretty well with the squad. That's where most of my business is. It doesn't work as well for the whole team. If my squad is moving out I might stay and heal someone else that I revived but chances are I'll regroup without further concern.

One word of advise is if you have problems with medics overall blame your squad not the whole team of medics. They aren't working together.

I love playing medic and i have to agree with the OP.., thats why ive changed my play style to a degree. The ONLY ppl that get revived usually now are my squad leader and squad mates and ONLY them, that way i can tell them on VOIP that im coming to revive them and to to run for cover once revived.

The only time i will take any notice of anyone else ( outside of my squad ) downed in the field is maybe another squad leader if they have no medics around or if they others run to me for healing while im in cover.

A bit selfish play style i know, but ive found 9 times out of 10 if i go to revive anyone else they do the things already mentioned and i end up been killed outright.

Yeh that sucks and i try my best to not get involved in a situation like that. If its part of my squad thats under fire i apologis in VOIP that i cant get to them.., they usually understand :D

Can't always control what you have in your squad on a public server. Unfortunately I'm too cack-handed to be a medic, I was **** as one in vBF2 and I'm **** as one in PR.. tend to be point as well which means I'm first to die if the shit hits the fan.

There really aren't that many people that honestly like to be the medic. I do it 70% of the time because no one else on the squad is one. It's not because I'm not good at it. I have both important weapon slots bound to my mouse. It's a very easy role to take on. It's just that it gets so boring sometimes. Like you I would rather take point with some grenades than to not and have smoke. Selfish
:p

When somebody has to do it somebody has to do it. If you are the last guy to be in the squad or you see nobody else doing that role after some time you HAVE to do it I've found. It doesn't matter how good you are at it.

First, you should'nt play in squad without medic, and when you do stay relatively close to your group.
Second, when playing medic in a squad, you can't always halt your squad to revive/heal every other player "dumb" enough to die. His first responsibilty is his five other squadmembers.
And yes, i agree. To few medics. More SL's should make sure his squadmembers spawn medkits. And if you guys do not feel qualified to play medic, only one way to improve skills. If you dont LIKE playing medic, dont expect anyone else to go.

2 medics

per 5 or 6 men in a squad

NO LESS OR NO MORE

Do not expect to be healed or revived by any one but the medics in your squad. This could mean no medic help, if you either refuse to go medic when your SL asks or more improtantly, even when your SL does not ask for you to go medic and there are less than 2 medics in the squad

I'll play more medic then.

I have had it up to here *points up to nose* with no one using smoke correctly.

SMOKE THE ENEMY, NOT OURSELVES!

The medic and officer need hotting up. When I did my service here in Sweden, medics had A203's on their AK5's (modified FNC80). Weird but true. These were special units though.

The officer kit could use something to make more ppl want to lead. On public servers, many will wait until the round starts before they make a squad or just go unassigned until there are squads.

Heres what I do when playing medic (which I usually do)

A) Look before you leap. Chances are the guy that just nailed my guy is still around, I figure I've a good 30 seconds to scan an area and make sure I don't get popped myself.

B) Request cover. If I'm in a good squad who works together, I will ask them to cover me while I run out to revive someone. This works brilliantly when executed right and has save my butt in more than one instance. So before running to the victim, ask you squad to cover you.

C) Smoke 'em. If your squad is less than helpful or you decide to play Superman and try to save everyone on the map yourself, don't forget to smoke in open areas. Also give the smoke a second or two to spread out and give concealment. In all probability this will be a sign for the enemy to rush in and kill instead of sitting back and killing you, but it may give you the split second you need to revive and hustle back to a safer position.

D) Don't lose sight of the bigger picture. In other words, USE THE MINI MAP!!! Press 'n' a couple of times to zoom all the way out and look for the red crosses and the heart thingies. If you need a more detail to locate the victim press 'n' a few times to get the proper zoom and get moving. Honestly, if someone is in the area requesting a medic, get your head out of the sand and check the mini map for their location. If you can safely get to them and not neglect your squad, go get them!

One bad habit I do have is only healing until the red bar goes away and the player isn't bleeding out. I only really do this when there is a half-dozen other people that need help too. Also, this has been mentioned but bears repeating, don't stare at me while I'm healing you. Give cover for god's sake! And if there is a whole group of people who needs healing, ya'll don't have to stare at me either! It quite probable you just made some enemy very happy by seeing ya'll milling around me and they decide to lob a grenade in our direction.
