You know who the commander is allready. He is the guy lying down at their spawn so unless you are capping the enemies base it is unlikely you will meet him. If the flag is uncappable even less likely.

As for squad leaders if you see someone warp beside somebody from nowhere he is the squad leader :D

yeah, a snipers job is tough, deciding who to hit. why give them more aid? just give the SL a little rank insignia or something and have the sniper look for that. dont give the sniper an enourmous crutch by letting them see exactly who it is. also being an SL would be less appealing since youd basically have a bullseye painted on your face. teamwork might suffer.

Really altering the skins or 3d map is uneccessary, you can usually tell a SL because he is hanging back and doing his level best not to get engaged. If he is hiding further back out of range you can generaly get an idea of his position from spotting the routes his team take coming at you, then send a man to terminate his residency. As for the BFCO he's easy, you just have to find the guy who is normaly furthest from the action hiding in a deep hole, he is unlikely to see you in BF2 vanilla as he is watching the command screen. Once found I suggest the following maneouvre - Draw blade, insert blade in BFCO, withdraw, job done.

Yep, that's pretty much where I was heading too.

The original idea was to have something distinguishable for the skin, as in real life. A real life platoon leader is not THAT distinguishable as to prevent sniper fire... but there are still distinguishable marks.
