Sexyness.

If you want a teaser for the new vehicle skins search for Maistros's Cobra reskin... it looks great and you can download it already.

looks good! I'd love to see some dirtier cities in PR.. and maybe with rubble / trash all around..

some examples?

damn it, they had to be labeled fallujah. just don't worry about it being fallujah, I think maps like Al Basrah need more garbage and rubble, and is there any way to make more things destroyable!? I don't really care about buildings.. just things that are easily destroyable by a ~70 ton tank! like light posts, small fences (some of which are already) roadway guard rails, power poles! small cement half walls, or even walls like around the facility? should probably look for a post on this..

Project Reality was primarily about introducing realistic gameplay, then British Forces, then it's all tweak heaven.

What you see in those texture changes are experiments into making more realistic environments outside of the pretty much bland ones that Dice created.

Maestros specifically ensured that the textures he was using were as near the original file sizes as can be to prevent needing greater hardware or causing lag.

As you may have noticed, EA/Dice have not been improving on the game lately and in fact in some tweaks and gameplay changes in the Mod they call BF2142 it might seem that they are trying to get people to stop playing BF2 and spend craploads of money on their new Mod.

The PR team are working within the combat of today, not going scifi. Many of the changes you see are outside of the BF2 engine, changes forced on the game from without.

Unless scifi is where you want to be, PR will outdistance the gameplay offered by BF2142 and any expansion packs EA/Dice bring out for it (that are designed to suck your wallet dry.)

Although PR is a niche military realism Mod and not suitable to maybe the majority of vBF2 players to come over and use, you lot have found your way here and we believe most of you will stay once you have played enough PR.

With each new build of the Mod (v0.6 being the next) you will undoubtably alternate between cheering and salivating and will most likely become unable to return to the arcadishness of vBF2 style gameplay.

You already know that discussions in these forums bring many ideas and information to the Devs attention; ie. gameplay, statics and equipment ideas. Items like this texture change come from serious PR players with skills in the digital world that are extremely welcome to the Mods team and players at the end of the day. The participation in Black Sands Studios (you've seen that every time you boot the game up!) allows sharing between the Mod teams and more ideas (implemented or not) come from there too.

Keep watching these forums, keep playing the new builds, keep involved and ten years from now when people talk about gaming you'll remember the core game you had installed on your pc and the reason for every hardware upgrade you ever made during these years :)

here's my question:
would it make any difference if all my graphic settings are already on the lowest?

The skins will look better but they will still have the "low settings pixelised" look...

yeh grunge textures are pretty handy, i use them quite a bit with GIMP and they look pretty good, dunno how they would be for buildings though.

I was in the mood for one.

And whilst we are talking about people with lower specced pc's.

The testers have a range of hardware, a good spread so that all graphics settings can be tested and the team know when they have missed something.
