Suggestion for looking around corners.
Hopefully this hasn't been suggested I didn't see it on the master list and tried a few search terms...
Anyway.
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm tired of having to step around a corner to find out if there's someone with a machine gun waiting there to blow me to pieces.
Now obviously a hand held mirror or leaning are probably out of the realm of possibility because of engine limitations. (Right?)
But what about a 3rd person cam view if you're stationary for a few seconds.
Thus if I want to look around a corner, I could walk up to it, hold still, then change the camera to over the shoulder and could peer around it.
Not exactly realistic... but better then nothing right?
And obviously if you start moving again it should jump back to first person.
Thanks for your time.

Or you could just dip out and in to cover quickly?, the 3rd camera idea is gonna get chucked out straight away due to the fact that it solves a gameplay problem that doesnt exist and its not realistic.
As for leaning and a hand held mirror i dont see the point, leaning would be a viable option but i dont think its possible with the game engine.

The leaning isn't possible. I doubt a mirror is possible. But I don't like the 3rd person cam, as you don't have to expose yourself at all when looking, and because it would make covering fire pretty useless.

Well according to THIS thread leaning should be possible.
If true, strafe jumps should be replaced with leaning.

You wouldn't know it from playing it, but 2142 is a different game.

I totally think, that the third person camera is UNREALISTIC.
It has been removed from vehicles (F10, F11 and F12), but what about, when you get killed with no revive , camera switches to 3rd person, and you see the enemy troops pass by? If youre dead, I think, that the camera should stay facing up in the sky...

Ah, my apologies. Looking in the top left corner, I only noticed the "2142", not the "2".Guerra norte wrote:What do you mean? That's the bf2 editor forums.

There's one reply from 2006. Altough replacing a previous move does sound plausible.Guerra norte wrote:Well according to THIS thread leaning should be possible.

You would also need new animations.

If you are reading this dont stop, cause if you do, I'll kick you in the balls.

It doesn't really matter how quickly you can do it... in order to actually see what's going on rather then just jumping out to draw fire takes time. More then the time required for the guy hiding under a car down the road to fire off a dozen rounds at you and take you out.BlackwaterEddie wrote:Or you could just dip out and in to cover quickly?, the 3rd camera idea is gonna get chucked out straight away due to the fact that it solves a gameplay problem that doesnt exist and its not realistic.

Send a squadmate on voip round. He can instantly tell you who killed him and how many of the fuglies are round there

[R-MOD]Mongolian Dude: AH man, sarcasm is so hard to get across the web, even if we are both british
[R-DEV]Jaymz: That has to be...the most epic response to a welcome thread I have ever seen. [R-CON]Mr.D ladies and gentlemen!

Personally i despise the 3rd person FPS games, they utterly suspend realism, with a pseudo OOBE (Out of Body Experience).Reyals wrote: But what about a 3rd person cam view if you're stationary for a few seconds.

The reason you shouldn't often have to peer around corners as an individual, aside from popping head out and then glancing back, is that other members of your squad or supporting squads should be able to spot enemy in that location without having to expose yourself. sure it happens sometimes and you may even get ordered to stick your head above the sandbags to see where that enemy sniper is... O.o
well positioned, elevated or highly penetrating or explosive suppressing fire, usually gives members of your squad or indeed you chance to put your head out and have a look at what you need to see.

I think they should leave it the way it is because if they put anything in it that would allow people to look around corners without showing themselves you would have "corner campers". If any of you have played Socom for the PS2 then you know what im talking about but let me explain for the others. People will just wait around the corner watching you get closer and then they pop out to shoot and you had no idea they are there and they get a cheap kill. It is really annoying.
