European Rapid Reaction Force

Post by Semi »

Even though I'm 99.99% sure this has been suggested before, I'll still give this a shot. It seems to me that this would be an easy faction to include in your mod, as most of the weapons and vehicles are already in game.

Suggested weapons
Main Assault Rifles: G36 variants, Famas (both already in game)
Support weapon: M249 (already in game)
Spec ops: G36 variant (already in game)
Engineer: M4 Shotgun (already in game)
Sniper: L96AI (already in game)
Anti-tank: AT4 (already in game)
Heavy anti-tank: Javelin or Eurospike

Vehicles
Iveco Light Multirole Vehicle (transport)
NH90 (transport heli)
Puma (IFV)
Eurocopter Tiger (attack heli) (already in game)
Leopard 2A6 (MBT) (already in game)
Eurofighter (multi-role fighter) (already in game)

Doesn't seem like that much work. Model and skin Iveco, NH90, and Puma. Redo the sounds to the weapons, and voilà! New faction.

Not sure how much we would actually gain from this, gameplay-wise. We already have the British faction in-game and being worked on.

And, yes, it has been suggested before. :p

Why may i ask, is it the concept of the UK forces OR the mear lack of equipement at prseent (no tanks/heavy vehicles ext.)?????

Will you still be borded, when thse babies turn up:http://realitymod.com/images/pr06/c2and ... _wipws.jpg and this: http://realitymod.com/forum/t819-uk-mod ... igger.html

I like the idea of European forces, but i would only like it if each country was kept seperate, in terms of kits.
For example, i would love to see the Swedish armed forces (absolutley amazingly advanced ground vehicles) but not if they were merged into some twisted Euroarmy.

I agree with Top Cat, I don't think a "twisted Euroarmy" would be realistic in the BF series simply because of the small numbers of players in game. Countries would need to be kept separate. I doubt that IRL you would have an assortment of different nationalities and weapons systems in a task force of 32 or 64 men. I can't see a deployment like that happening in real life and working if you know what I mean.

Besides its still early days for the British as a force in PR. They're maturing and becoming more fun to play every release. People's jaws dropped when they saw the Merlin in the .5 teaser vid with its back door that raises/lowers.

Might as well include the Luxembourgian armed forces as well then...

Agreed, even if the Euro Force (yes, like in the EA booster pack) may be realistic.

But Swedes? We Norwegians joke about Swedes (You know why Swedes open milk cartons in the store? Because it says "open here" on them. Yeah, bad joke :razz :) . I say Norwegian forces! With AG3s and Glock 17s. :D

Yeah it has been suggested before, by me and also by someone else I think.
But overall I think it would be great. Though I did suggest doing it so that one kit would always present one nationality. That way you would get lots of nice weapons and an extremely versatile faction.

But yeah, would probably be a lot of work. But I can always keep dreaming.. maybe after the brits are complete.

It's project reality
and if you make a compilation of every best weapon in the european arsenal
the game will just be sooooo unbalanced.

Hey watch it, we might just come and take you guys back, personally I like the "union flag" :P ....
Naaahh just kidding for those of you who dont know, Norwegians and Swedes always joke about eachother.... for example, do you know why norwegians build round houses? So that the dogs wont piss in the corners.
Do you know how a norwegian shuffles a deck of cards? He/She shakes the deck.

As for Sweden not being a realistic option... One without the proper knowledge would think so. Sweden is the leader of the Nordic Battlegroup which will be the european rapid reaction force from 2008. It consists of 2000 Swedes, 200 Finns, 150 Norwegians and 50 Estonians.

I don't really find that impressive at all, but ok.

Swedish Military Force - Fully mobilized - 65.500
Come on! That's even less than the Norwegian armed forces! And compare that to the more than 2 million chinese troops.
Needless to say, Sweden falls a little short as a realistic faction

Actually, I don't know much about the Swedish military, except that the tracked vehicles that the Norwegian armed forces use are Swedish. So I won't say whether or not it's realistic to have them in. Although it would be great to hear some Scandinavian shouting in BF2...

And do you know how to sink a Swedish submarine? You swim down and knock on the door. (well, hatch)

I think you should get your facts straight, in the mid 90s the swedish armed forces fully mobilised would have been somewhere around 1 000 000 men and women. Yes I have also checked the wikipedia but as everybody should know, it is not always a reliable source. Surely you dont think that incase of war Norway wouldn't be able to muster more than 70 000 troops?
I also hope that the chinese can mobilise far more than just 2 000 000 since 1 000 000 000 people live in China.
I dont want to turn this into a flaming thing but please check your facts!
Not saying that Sweden is the most realistic faction, all im saying is that it is not unrealistic. I also PMed you (Semi) with a longer more extensive explanation since this is way OT.
