Will the expansion have any affect on the mod?
Isn't the expansion going to add certain things like night maps, nightvision, etc?
As these things cannot be implemented in PR at the moment due to engine limitations (and DICE/EA's greed), will PR mod the expansion or the vanilla game?
On the one hand, it would be great to see how PR realistically does all of those new possibilities like rappeling (blackhawk fast roping, no doubt), flashbangs, nightvision, etc.
On the other hand, people will need to buy the expansion to play.

As far as Im conserned, anything in that can be done in an Ex pack can be done in a mod. And if there isnt, there is still a good chance modders can check out the coding and such in BF2:SF and create it for their mod, as done before by SWoWWII for BF42. They had throwable knifes, then a few mods come out with throwable knifes.

True, but I think those scoundrels learned how to adapt and overcome.Figisaacnewton wrote:did they in SWoWW2 and RTR?
I'm sure they read public forums and I'm sure they see every other person going "if we can do it in a mod, no point in buying the expansion". They read that... and I'm pretty sure they will add something in there that makes the exp. have some engine-only code.

Personaly I am more likely to purchase an expansion, if I know it can be further expanded on by mod teams. I like to think the developer gives us the basic tools that will allow each section of the community to modify the game, so as to best suit their style of play. It can only extend the longevity of a game if it has the ability to evolve, without incurring regular costs. Mod teams should be allowed to develop the game as required, this can only serve to give the developer and idea about where to position their next expansion to gain maximum effect.
