Not so realistic....
First up- love the mod. Sometimes a little too hardcore but so much BF2 goodness that it really puts all other mods to shame. I appreciate all the hard work that has been put into it. However, one of the things that first attracted me to this mod was the fact that when you put a bullet into someone they went down & stayed down. None of this vanilla BF2 **** whereby you empty half a mag into someone before they drop. Now it seems that the mod has picked up a few of these bad habits... Last couple of nights I have went head to head with other players, got the first shots off but came of worst. Nothing wrong with that you might say- they were just better. Fair enough, I suppose if I hadn`t just emptied 2 3 round bursts into them at spitting distance and witnessed the bloody impacts. Or the worst incident- iron sights up,crouching in ambush, I see my target and fire a single shot into his head. Only he keeps moving, only this time he`s gunning for me. I squeeze 2 more rounds off, each making a bloody impact only for him to take me down. Now either there is some serious cheating going on or a bad glitch with the hit detection. My spec is quite high & runs this game no probs, my pings are very low. So I don`t think its my end. I hate to raise the suggestion of cheating, but I wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences. When you think about it this game is ripe for it because there are no tags and you never know who killed who.

I have noticed this sort of thing before, where a head shot results in an instant kill but with some weapons such as the main assault rifles it takes sometimes two or three chest shots. It's not something that bothers me personally and I assume this was intended with the mod. PR aims to bring a realistic style of play to BF2, not to be a soldier sim like ArmA. Maybe IRL the body armor might help and stop a shot or two to the chest, I don't know, but I prefer it where you at least have a slight chance of retaliating against whoever shot at you. I've also seen it where you think you hit them in the head but they're still alive, and I guess thats because of BF2's hitboxes, they must be a bit dodgy.
EDIT: These guys beat me to it
Welcome to the forums btw

An age old principle that I use in real life and it works. Pump lead in them til they go down and stay down. If you still percieve a threat empty another mag into them. You don't have to worry about ammo conservation too much in game if you have good riflemen that will resupply you on a regular basis.
Until the hit boxes are sorted out, let the lead fly.......

Yeah, its hitboxlagg thats the problem. Strange battlefield where one is running around chasing ghosts
You can try to lessen the problem a bit by fiddling with the settings a bit.
Some ppl say that it does makes a difference. Some says it doesnt.
Try it out and see?

My average ping is between 15-45ms and I use these settings:C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\settings\Usersettings.con wrote:rem
rem Settingsfile automatically saved by bf2
rem
SettingsManager.boolSet GSClPunkBuster 1
SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.100000
SettingsManager.boolSet GSExtrapolateFrame 0
SettingsManager.U32Set GSExtrapolationTime 1200
SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 100
SettingsManager.U32Set GSPerfLogAtPlayerCount 30
SettingsManager.stringSet GSPlayerName ""
SettingsManager.boolSet GSShowNetGraph 0
SettingsManager.boolSet GSUseObjectCache 1
If this makes what I think it does, then it also makes one easier to hit.C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\settings\Usersettings.con wrote:rem

You have to experiment on your own. No certain ansvers are too be had I'm afraid. Noone except EA/Dice knows for sure. And they aint tellin.Digidenis wrote:Not sure i m understand those setting. It really help?
What setting for ping 125ms must be?
But maybe try:
0.15000
1
180
150
or something like that and see.
But probably the effects of this trick is rather small when you have that high ping anyway.

Yesterday I hit a stationary USMC soldier in the head with an AK, and he survived. I shot him in the head AGAIN and he was still alive. He then realized someone must be shooting at him, so he whips around and kills me in one shot. I'm tired of headshots not killing and I'm tired of these whip-around headshots.
