Policeman question / suggestion

Post by Expendable Grunt »

Hey devs what's the current thoughts on the policeman's weapon? It's very hard as INS to stop a decient tank group with our shoddy accuracy and 2 RPG shots, so I was hoping the shotgun could get replaced? I was thinking maybe the AK74U (I dunno how widely that's distributed, I'll go look that up soon), or the SMG the MEC got for their AT kit in vBF2.

What?! No, I'm only just starting to appreciate the joys of the shotgun on Helmand. Got best combat score with it a couple of times, so it can't be that bad!

I can seriously not remember that SMG, (what it looked like or the name)!

Replace the shotgun? No, I don't think that's what's needed. I think the shotgun just needs to be made more realistic. May I direct you to this thread?

Oh yeah before I forget. Why would a policeman give ammo to insurgents?!

Already got the AK-101, I don't see the problem.

I think the MEC smg was called Bizon.

IRL the only difference between SMG's and AKS-74U is the bullet caliber ( and reloading mechanism ofcourse ) . Stats of this weapon are closer to SMG then to AR . To be honest , it was designed to be used in the same conditions as an MP5 & it's analogues .

Thanks for recalling the name -- it was on the tip of my tongue. Kept thinking Bison...

As for upgrading the shotgun, I don't know...cops DO have shotguns, but I'm guessing the Ins are getting black market weapons and as such I'm sure he would ditch the shotty asap.

Why? A weapon such as a shotgun has its own purpose in real life as does an assault rifle, a pistol or RPG. Some are made for long range firing, high rate of fire, self defense, etc... The shotgun would be classified as a close quarters weapon, and thus, makes it ideal for a battle in an urban enviorment. Its not well done in PR, and well all know it needs refining. Sights, damage, etc.

The site for this link has some wierd material but I think I found the replacement for the Insurgent shotgun.
It's a single shot weapon though and the recoil may have to be adjusted.

Hopefully the future giant Helmand will be the signature PRM map with truly asymetric warfare. Insurgents need katushyas and mortars asap :)

:-o

But what of my beloved shotgun/molotov/unlimited ammo combo? :-(
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

the shotgun would be awesome if it wasnt such a tit bag in PR. if it was thought out THEN it would be good.

so just make the shotgun realistic and leave it in as in real life it is god like close/medium distance.

^^ IMO it isn't god like even at very close ranges. AFAIK it doesn't really penetrate body armor that well, which would mean that it just hurts like hell but won't kill.
