Put your high-res/high-poly renders to use!

Post by Artnez »

One thing that I always wondered was why mods very rarely make intro movies or display high-res "scenes" when they have so many models to work with!

I say use the high-res stuff to your advantage!

If not creating an intro movie, create some cool firefight scenes in 3dmax, or whatever you use, and use them as title image. I think it'll all add to the experience.

A really cool idea would be to do someting that BIA (Brothers In Arms) did. Take reference imagery and try to create exact duplicates. Then, show a mixed image, half your version and half the real image.

Would add to the experience :D

A good bit of music to accompany the scene would be good. Lets face it, think back, remeber the first time you heard the intro for BF42. That still gives me goosebumps. I have to agree with Artnez, a good intro sets the mood of a game or mod and can actually color the way people perceive and play the game.

I like what FH did as far as a background (since they had no intro) they have powerful music and scenes to go with them.

I'm picturing a fly-by in the USMC attack chopper from a ground angle whilst there's a fierce fight being fought out with jeeps getting airbourne from little hills and things. There should be a Garry's Mod version for BF2.

Either that or a Harrier delivering some serious damage on the helpless suckers below...

Some clips in the background of the menu would be great if you could execute it, such as the ones in the background at the moment. Music would create an extra uniqueness to the mod, too, so that when people hear that song, they think of it. Or when people start humming the song to themselves subconsciously. lol - I did that a lot with BFV's Point Of Existence mod.

Music is a must, background movies for menus would be awesome, too.

Any hints on what general genre it is...? :) i.e. BHD's techno-meets-ethnic? That was a pretty cool sound track.

Yeah I get your point, I'll make the waiting time pass by looking at RAM that I cannot afford :( A-Levels don't half take it out of someone...

So who's responsible for the music?
