Coming this fall! Everybody hates Pilots
Ok so somewhere between the fog, lack of radar, and the seemingly contagious obsession with disabling rear views on jets, flying in BF2 sucks. Hard. The technology available is actually less than WW2, (they had aircraft mounted radars). As for that extremely annoying buzzing sound that alerts the pilot of the possibility of a missile being launched from somewhere, at sometime in the near future seems to be more beneficial to the launcher than the pilot (you don't know if they've ACTUALLY shot a missile at you, and if you drop flares then you gotta wait until your jet deems it favorable to employ another salvo. The fact is that planes take an eternity to respawn, and if you manage to survive enemy base air/sniper/jeep rapers, team killers, have managed to bribe the quartermaster with enough beer/rice/wine/lemodade/tequila/gin/barley/7up/margaritas so that he is so inebriated that you can convince him to get you another kit (you lost your last one from insertrandomnamethatmakesnosenseandistoolongtoreadatfirstglancesoyouhavetolookatwhatsquadhe'sinonlytofindoutthatheisn'tinasquadsoyoucanjustsuckit439 teamkilling you) in time to get in line for a jet that may end up squishing you from you standing too close (You need a kit to use this vehicle/position! Too bad. Go get another kit! Your all out of lemonade? Go to the brig!).
Now, at this point, you've got a jet, randomname439 has been banned, engines are spinning, and things are looking up! But if you actually had been looking up you might have been able to see that MiG-29 come out of your 0.5x0.5mm field of view and fire a burst into your fuel tank, crashing in the miserable process. By this time there is 5 minutes left and you have managed to slay an enemy chopper with an A-T4 while he circled around aimlessly after realizing that the MiG-29 had already taken care of you, your jet, and your drunken quartermaster in one fell swoop. You this time attempt a flanking maneuver throwing smoke to provide concealment causing a cobra to fly into a littlebird ,which was in the process of flipping at the time. You jump into a jet (your team has successfully killed itself buying you a few seconds) and begin a game of monopoly while your engines start. Taking off at last you miraculously evade a cloud of missiles (all aimed at you by your team but said team sucks too bad to hit you), a formation of blackhawks, a humvee transporting your quartermaster to the aid station from alcohol poisoning, and an enemy MiG-29 on final approach because he needs to pee but the MEC bathroom is clogged full of puke from allocating so many kits. You manage to cause a mid air collision with the landing MiG-29 and the game ends with you receiving an impressive kill ratio of 1:512. Your team managed to win 1-0, and your top player scoring -447 points. On to Muttrah City!
(the issues here may or may not be obvious to the casual observer)

lol, oh man that sounds bad. I think the jets need to be made very realistic...waiting to deploy more flares is just dumb. In BF2 the flight ceiling is so low you are forced to deal with so many unrealistic factors that you really need all the flares/chaff you can get. I know everyone is so weary of the jet-domination of vBF2 but thats a poor reason to nerf a jet when its a realitymod. I dont know if this is being done atm, but there should be no nerfing in my opinion. Let the jets be kickass...they didn't even bother me in vBF2...I was a ground pounder and far more afraid of a chopper than a jet dropping unguided bombs (usually). Anyways...jets kicking *** is a natual factor of modern combat...let it happen...squads should have to react accordinly to not get killed.

That original post sounds AMAZINGLY alot like what a jet-whore would say...blame everything on the team...after about five minutes of that **** why didn't you grab a rifle and join the fight on the ground?

lol I am inclined to agree with you...how many times on Albasarah do we have to say "WHAT IS EVERYONE DOING AT THE AIRPORT???"Expendable Grunt wrote:That original post sounds AMAZINGLY alot like what a jet-whore would say...blame everything on the team...after about five minutes of that **** why didn't you grab a rifle and join the fight on the ground?

Make it so Aircraft can only fly with Joysticks then, thatl sort out a few Newbs, Secondly if your on the Carrier, then 2 of his Team should be Manning the AAA and SAM Stations, but otherwise, No Air Superiority means you dont get in the Air, when the Devs bring out the New, Much larger Maps, then we can fly Real Style.

Flying with joysticks isn't fun at all. If you move the throttle more than a micrometer back, the engine shuts down and your plane loses all speed and lift (even while in a steep dive with plenty of speed already built up).
Also, I wonder if EA/DICE ever heard of CCIP. I mean, the bomb sight they put in is a joke. It's probably unchangeable, so PR can't really fix it, though. Besides, CCIP requires radar, and planes in BF2 don't have that onboard...
Oh, and first post.

What of those of us "newbs" who can out-fly joystick pilots?-=ToD=-KNIFE wrote:Make it so Aircraft can only fly with Joysticks then, thatl sort out a few Newbs, Secondly if your on the Carrier, then 2 of his Team should be Manning the AAA and SAM Stations, but otherwise, No Air Superiority means you dont get in the Air, when the Devs bring out the New, Much larger Maps, then we can fly Real Style.

'[R-MOD wrote:Mongolian_dude']I say that only the people who buy joysticks will be dedicated to learn the aircraft. Therefore, the only people flying the aircraft will be good at it, therefore reducing n0Ub factor.
...mongol...
i fly with out a joystick, i have one but i rather fly in bf2 with out one.
want to know the truth, i enjoy flying and have since 1942, but the ques of people waiting for the planes really put me off, so i never ever bother.
its the same with the request kits i rarely use request kits and only 3 times have i ever used a sniper kit and that was because i looted them off a corpse, and honestly its fine with me as getting in a squad with good team work is much more fun that sitting flag or runway waiting.

Flying high (Always helps)
Don't know exact changes coming in .06, but set a few rules like: You crash (on your own)= you done flying for the round.
I am not gonna go into the actual flying details, there are to many to list, but I will say that flying in PR is much, much better than vBF2...
Feel bad for the QM

The first post is hillarious....
Well, Ive had a joystick before, but its easier with the mouse, since youre used to it more...
I wonder, if with 17 Km maps we would have more than 2 jets...increase the sky border to 900 m and put in clouds..then the jet whores can fly around causing unexpected thunderstorms with the jet thrust, thereby making the British Armed Forces on the ground taking out their umbrellas (since they would think, its raining
) and reveal their positions to the enemy....

I Use a Joystick and am Great with it in Helis and Aircraft, i feel that some peaple use the Keybourd and some will look down on them as not "dedicated" but its a Way you learn, it what your Comfortable with, no use Flying into Battle with something you cant use very well. Though some of those Complain Joysticks have No "Sensitivity" for small movements, that too is bodged as flying a LB or a BH i can make a landing in any place. Just stick with what you want and dont complain.
