Making a Real Black Hawk Down Map PR and vBF2 (after PR version) Suggestions?

Conflict in somalia was loosly based off of these events. Best mod ever made for BF:1942. Unfortunantly due to its late release, not many players played it (damn you DC).
The mod did a great job implementing game play goodies. Those guys figured out how to set the choppers on a controlable throttle (with the wasd keys and joystick which, in my mind, is better than the VBF2's version of throttle control), how to make the BH go into an uncontrolable spin once dmgd too much, AND on top of that, they had NPC soldiers in the US main base walking around and doing jumping jacks/pushups. And all of that was with the 1942 engine.
It was by far the most complex mod I have ever seen (although PR is starting to get close to taking that title). After the relative unsuccess of the mod they broke up and some merged with another mod team (dont remember the name) which eventually died off. But if you still have V1942 installed on your comp, I would encourage you to take a look at it, that is, if you can find it. Their official site died with the mod : (

ya i played that mod and it was great! But about that spin, All they have to do is take out ur rear propller and ur faling down in a spin. Ok last night on Thors Al Basrah server I was flying a BH alot and just asking to be hit(finding spawn cars) but they wernt firing at Cobras or A-10s only ME! I was shot in the tail alot and somew guy had great aim almost everytime but then i started 1 of those spins and held it in the air long engough that it looked like BHD
So i crqashed hard in the ground but i was going down with my BH. Yjay hapened oly 1 time with a squad inside of me and then i did a quick land south of the city(alarm going off) Then as i started to head back to base i was hit agian and i had NO control and i was to low to jump so i crashed on top of a building.

Ill have to look into the mappper placed rally points, but I want them to fly there, of crouse...
and if they fly there, id like them to have a REASON to set up on the four corners, only way i can think of doing that is having a flag at the target building and having it be 75 meters from each corner to allow for a rally point at each.. thats 4 squads, and then the others could go out to a crash site or something, we'll see how big the level becomes...

In BHD, they olny defended the Chrash site, they 'Caped' the target building, when on hte lost convoy, and held Chrash site till APCs came up.
Put a 5 flag group around target building, a Flag (or 2) far down the road, then put Chrash site flags (only one insurg can cap its Chrash site 1, #2 would be fast to cap for 2 guys)
RPs are for spawning, Requesting kits and to hide from hostiles not defending from them.
Make the map first then post SS, then ill show you, then put RPs and Flags

The whole thing is I WANT them spawning and having a reason to HOLD the four cornners around the target building. In vBF2 this would be easy, put a flag on each corner... PR its different. Great, so if anyone is still moderately interested, I am slowly trudging along.
I have put in the Olympic Hotel, the Target building, and a Work-in-Progress of a WIP (to show how WIP it really is) of one of the crash sites.
Mainly I have just been tinkering with the buildings and such. Getting a feel for the editor... this is my first map, keep in mind, so I am like a fish on dry land with a nail through my face...
Heres some major WIP pics of the above mentioned areas I have been workinf on. I still need to add a lot to it (Duh)

very very WIP ariport, anyone know where the concrete slabs are located in the object folders? how to view them.. should i have something checked?:

Few questions...
1. should I add some darker sand for the roads? if so, how??
2. where is the concrete slab located in the editor? i had it, but lost it and couldnt find it for the life of me...
3. are there only 2 cars... the red wreck and the blue one...? im making this in BF2, not PR mod... maybe those can be added in and fiddled with later... spawn cars or something..since im assuming itll be US vs. insurgents... will be especially nice for .6 w/ civis i think...
4. anyone got any suggestions for this early in the creation of it?
One thing I think I am shooting for is to get the map layed out, and then hopefully pass on the torch to someone who knows more about combat zones, spawn points, and the like.... cuz i know i would mess it up... but Ill cross that bridge when I come to it.
Still need help on getting roads to work... keep getting errors...

will do, thanks for the quick reply. When modding, can you start up in different mods? or does it always have to be the same one... like... say i started (i think) making this mod in bf2, can I start up in special forces, get the plane added, and then save and start back up in bf2?
Cuz I dont recall seeing the large carge plane... hmmm

Ha, trust me, I know. Majot WIP. alot of the airfield as of now is mroe or less getting what I want from the objects list into the map. If anyone happens to have better pictures... Mine are from googlemaps so they are ten years + more current than what, '93? and its only an above view...
another thing i tried to work around... the airfield is supposed to be at about a 60 degree angle, sort of poiting to wards main mogadishu... but I have a lot of trouble lining up the concrete tarmac when I do that... say you have two textures(objects, really) and they are both on top of each other (Runway and tarmac) how do I make it so only the airport shows... like, give the airport priority. This is something that really kills maps when it isnt fixed... seeing it glitch and flicker between the two objects...
Another thing... I need help on roads... any good links??? PM help? Anything!!!
One last thing... Is that one hanger really big?? if it is... I dont think bf2 has a big one, so I might resort to using a few small ones... its things that like that im not TOO worried about changing...

another thing... control tower... the object is in the objects folder for bf2, however, it is not skinned... maybe if i figure out how to skin things, I will put a simple gray skin on it and throw it in, cuz i think it owuld add a lot to the airport... obviously...being..a... control tower and all...

I might just add that in for you... There are basketball hoops...
I would like to add in some music that plays from the speakers... but I dont know.. might be a bit too much.. but it could make the Americans feel like total badasses as they take off in 4 Black Hawks...
