I think it would be real cool if you made a Reality version of 2142. By that, I mean remove unrealistic aspects, for example, take out those pods and make things in it that seem more realistic to a time setting of 2142.

And like perhaps add things like other types of titans, like transport titans, and other stuff like that. Basically I would love to see something like that. Like maby add a Union of African States and some other stuff, that would be really friggin cool if you ask me.

I would ttly map for it, lol

phooey on that, sir.

in all seriousness though, 2142 is too similar to bf2. its basically the same thing. the real deal is frontlines and crysis. thats what i want to see a reality mod for. but yeah this is a bit ahead of ourselves. 1.0 isnt even out yet.

Who says the current version of v2142 IS realistic. Have you been to the future?...thats what I thought ;)

It might be a good idea, the only problem is Xaritix is that there would be too many conflicting ideas about what would be most realistic and what is not. Since this team is still working on PR, I dont think they would do this, and honestly, I wouldnt want them to divide their attention on two mods when they could focus all of their talents on what they have now. I do remember reading somewhere that a team was doing something similar to a reality mod for 2142, I just dont remember what it was though...

What I mean is eliminate things that are unrealistic, such as the pods and some other stuff. And there would be just a few rules such as NO LASERS, NO FANCY ENERGY SHIELDS

If you're removing all the futuristic stuff, then what's the point?

Erm...so I'm going to assume you've already seen what can be invented in 135 years or so?
If you have a time machine, please, leave me your address here so I can come over to your place and...erm..."persuade" you to give it to me =)

But really, on what basis do you make presumptions that in that time we will not see the emergence of "LASERS" and "FANCY ENERGY SHIELDS" that you feel you have the need to shout to make a point?

135 years ago, people would laugh at you if you went into a pub/bar and talked of flying machines. And look how far aviation has gone a mere century after its original conception.

Did it not cross your mind that there are already missile defence systems that use what is basically laser technology already in development?
What makes it impossible that in the future, they can shrink down that technology to something the size of your pistol, given that in less than that time, man went from a collaboration of sticks and cloth which can barely stay aloft for longer than an hour to something which can go mach 2.5, blow up a city, and be refueled mid-air?

Those pods seem to be a very believable development to me btw.
But of course, I dont know what will be real or not in 135 years. Unless you tell me your address so I could kill...er...persuade you to give me your time machine ;)

I think you guys failed to see his point... BF2 was originally a "modern combat" era game.... Mod developers such as forgotten hope for example make a mod for this game called BF2, and in doing so intend to create a ww2 mod...

His thoughts were to use 2142 as a tool to base a "modern combat" era mod...

My answer to this however is, no, we are not going to use battlefield 2142 at all.

Nono, we got his point quite clearly. Read the part where he said he wanted more variants of the floating fortress in 2142 known as a titan.
To be blunt, what he basically said is "2142 doesn't represent what I think warfare will look like in that time frame. I think the reality team should go and do make PR:2142 based on my observations I made from the time machine I'm implying I have invented since I know that there's going to be more titan virants and that laser weapons will never come to fruition in 135 years"

Sorry to be all offensive guys, but I just hate ideas with no logics behind them.

Now if he had instead said "Guys I've got some really great ideas I'd love to add to 2142 because it'd make the game cooler" instead of taunting the "because it'll adhere to the realism of a time period none of us will ever live to see", then I'd be less aggressive with my replies.

But even then I'd most likely say "Well, its time to learn how to mod now isnt it". And if his ideas were really amazing, I'd even tell myself "Well, its time to learn how to mod and ask to help him make his idea a reality".

And really, no one should offer 2142 mod support. I'm glad PR never will, and I seriously urge all potential modders to shun that money grabbing lame excuse for a game. Mod support for a game that introduces the concept of in game ads? Lets not bolster the message people who brought 2142 are broadcasting to EA shall we..."we're idiots and will be willingly exploited by your money grabbing schemes" is the last thing EA needs to know -.-"

Oops... I guess I read his post wrong. LOL.

Now I get what everyone is bashing him about. Anyways, the mod is not going to change to 2142, and on that note I will end the discussion. Its just not going to happen.
