Pilot rescue...
Was thinking about how its basicaly pointless to bail or stayalive after an aircrash.
So I have come up with this idea:
The pilot goes down, he ejects and lands safely, the respawn timer for his aircraft starts like normal, however, if the pilot manages to make it back to the base before his aircraft naturaly respawns, then it instantly does so when he gets to the Landingpad/airstrip...
Ofcourse so as not to have everyone crouding around and as an added bonus to the surviving pilot/gunner, the aircraft is 'reserved' for them only till a short timer runs out... about 2 mins or so, enough time for the gunner/pilot to get the aircraft back.
This makes pilot extractions and stuff worthwhile to the team, and makes downed pilots an important target for snipers/other infantry..

The problem with the ticket thing is that your average pilot does not give a s**t about tickets or anything as subtle as that..
They would still go up, get killed, lose the game for the whole team..
Basicaly it would be perfect for competitive games but brake the public side of things.
Or it would not be noticed at all because the difference is soo small...
The difference between this and my solution is that imine only supports good pilots, and there is no imballance as you are trading the time and energy of some number of people who could be doing other things in exchange for a new aircraft..
It also ADDS to the gameplay, if there is no reason to get the pilot back to base other than a few tickets then no one will care.
But this way there is a new mission type: rescue the pilot there is also a 'real' reward for doing so rather than a punishment for failing to do so..
EDIT: also just thought of this, but it helps get an aircraft back after a mess up on the airpad, if the pilot jumps out in time after crashing and fliping the craft on the pad, a new one is instantly ready to save the day..

Sorry, but I dont see how this improves the gameplay or anthing?Outlawz wrote:Meh, put a Littlebird with a red cross on it in every bigger map, like Basrah, where you are bound to have downed pilots....then pick the guy up.
Not trying to be offencive but if this was the only thing implemented then there would also be no reason to use the new littlebird to pick up pilots since there is no reward for doing so, only the usage of one pilots time and effort..
And if you meant for this to be in combination with my sugestion, then it would defeat the point, making speical aircraft just for this situation just makes the extraction too easy...

The problem with your suggestion is that pilots will bail out over the airstrip in order to avoid repairing/rearming, much like people do on the "Learn How To Fly" server.

I personaly think thats a fair price to pay, if such a thing happend in the middle of a dogfight then the pilot still in the air would blow the **** out of the one on the ground when he trys to take off..The problem with your suggestion is that pilots will bail out over the airstrip in order to avoid repairing/rearming, much like people do on the "Learn How To Fly" server.
Also with the current way landing/taxiing works, its no real loss
Oh just had another thought, if you get attacked or SLAMed by team mates for taking the aircraft before you, jump out let it be destroyed and you get a new one with your name on it in seconds...
EDIT: Teek, please explain. what do you exactly mean by requestable planes?
Also, as with the tickets, the common BF2 pilot will A) get enough points to counteract the teamwork loss though kills, and B) not give a damn

Put a min of 1 minute till respawn.JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:The problem with your suggestion is that pilots will bail out over the airstrip in order to avoid repairing/rearming, much like people do on the "Learn How To Fly" server.
It's unlikely that a pilot could be picked up and brought back that fast and it makes it less useful to bail out over the airfield.

that could be fixed by setting the aircraft spawn time to say 30-60 seconds. There would still be a big advantage in getting a new plane in under 60 seconds than waiting for it to respawn at the normal rate and that way it would probably be faster to land and rearm the aircraft.JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:The problem with your suggestion is that pilots will bail out over the airstrip in order to avoid repairing/rearming, much like people do on the "Learn How To Fly" server.
edit: or maybe something like this. When you die with the pilot kit it takes 1min or 1.5mins to respawn? (pilot training takes a long time, so it would be kinda realistic too that they are not being replaced as fast as infantry is) That would make pilots want to stay alive, though then again that really doesn't mean that the teammates would come to rescue them.

No not Tickets, but individual pilots losing points.Seagoon wrote: EDIT: Teek, please explain. what do you exactly mean by requestable planes?

In sand box, you can spawn vehicles with T, could something along those lines be done perhaps?

ya put a BH though on Al Basrah and make a NEW KIT. PARAMEDIC- the kitwould have ka-bar, red smoke(4), pistol(3 Mags), M16 (4 Mags), nades(1).
The Bh would have a big red cross on the side and can only be flown by Paramedics. it would make this new kit be huge on Al Basrah and the Paramedic after each pilot is returmned to base get 10 points more in each good score area.

Well, giving the pilot a 1 min respawn time won't really work since the aircraft he just crashed has a 5 min respawn time so they'll be alive and kicking by the time another A10 is on the airfield.
Right now, the only good way to get rid of plane whores is an admin that will kick for it, in my opinion.
Also, in the current state, I really have no intention of saving someone that would most likely teamkill for an aircraft and of whose like we have plenty of.

If pilots die inside their choppers they lose points for breaking a team asset (or at least they used to). This is a good system because if the pilot jumps out before the plane is destroyed they don't lose those points.
Maybe the amount of points the pilot loses for aircraft could be upped?
