Troels, go check the HELP forum. I made a post there that describes the procedure to manually patch BF2.

I was very dissapointed with that patch, and as someone on the Planet Battlefield forums, there is one major problem with this patch that a great deal of people have overlooked. They forgot to ask themselves, 'Did DICE deliver what they had promised?'
Originally this patch was meant to fix about one hundred and forty bugs if I recall correctly. They didn't seem to deliver half of that.
Oh well. I'm thinking though that Project Realism might do for BF2 what Desert Combat did for BF1942.

So I redownloaded and reinstalled, but now it won't even let me go to the welcome screen. D:
Here's what is says after selecting language:
An error (-5006 : 0x8000ffff) has occured while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: My Company Name.
Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffff
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1356)
pAPP:Battlefield 2 Patch
PVENDOR:My Company Name
PGUID:F317E784-F31C-4F26-A610-2D7BD89FEC5F
$10.50.0.125PAK
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 232.64
This is extremely frustrating and I am at my wits end.

There is a way to install the setup manually via your temporary files. I had this problem when I had the game in "C:\Games\Battlefield 2\" I tried a manual install and it seemed to work. However I found not all files were patched!
So I re-installed and left it in the default "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\" directory and the 1.3 patch installed without a hitch :s
Now thats what I call a rubbish patching tool from a professional company LOL
