molotov cocktail
Does the damage need to be increased? I've had several thrown at me, but I think I have escaped them all relatively unharmed...
I don't recall ever actually confirming a kill using one of these either...
Do we need to make these more lethal?

You don't get a kill using these IIRC, they burn to death and counts as a terrain-based death (suicide i believe). While they might not seem very useful in open terrain, closed buildings and rooftops are especially useful in terms of not just damage but an intimidation factor. I recall in one of our fuck-around tests that duckhunt jumped off a building when we put 2 molotovs up there, to his death.

They're also good for finishing off disabled tanks and APCs.

I only found them good for denying an area to the enemy. For example, when there's a guy who keeps firing at me from behind a corner, I toss a molotov at the corner, and effectively make it impossible for him to shoot from his previous position. It isn't easy to kill people with the things, though, as they'd have to stand still and cooperate, waiting to get cooked.

yea i know what you mean. would be really cool if, upon direct (or near direct) impact, the guy actually caught on fire and/or 'bled' out fast. hard to code i'm sure.daranz wrote:I only found them good for denying an area to the enemy. I just think they are not very effective, if someone can charge forward through them without fear.

I think they need to be more powerful, I'm hit soldiers dead on with them just to see them run out of the flame and start shooting.
They should also be pretty nasty to light vehicles, they were used to great effect as anti-tank weapons in WW2 on the eastern front with a good hit to the engine deck. I imagine it wouldn't do much to modern armor but humvees would be a different story.

Try throwing it at a stationary tank, you'll see what happens{GD}Snake13 wrote:I think they need to be more powerful, I'm hit soldiers dead on with them just to see them run out of the flame and start shooting.

I remember having only 3 guys with me one day as Insurgents, I had a US kit of some sort that i picked up cus i ran out of AK ammo. And i had a Policeman and a RPG Gunner. We had a tank move in near us. The RPG Gunner shot the first round and the tank ignored. The second round hit the side and tracked the tank. The tank then decided to start shooting at the RPG Gunner. And here comes the cool part (God, I wish i had a fraps of this). You see a Insurgent run up behind the tank, jump on it, get to the hatch, waste the gunner with his AK-47 and then drop a Molotov in the hatch and jump off. The Molotov exploded and tank blew up. So, yes, very effective when used right.
Also, try lobbing one into a blackhawk as it drops off troops. That's always fun.
