Mobility Troop personnel specialise in vehicle insertion techniques, similar to those of the Long Range Desert Group of the Second World War.
Vehicle insertions allow a more sustainable patrol in the medium to deep battlespace but will create logistical and force protection challenges.
Personnel are required to gain skills in vehicle maintenance across the range of vehicles used by the Regiment, particularly whilst on patrol with limited opportunity for combat support. Vehicles which personnel must master include; the Land Rover 110, nicknamed the Pinky or Pink Panther due to the two tone desert camouflage colours, Land Rover 90, Light Strike Vehicle (LSV) a 2 seat dune buggy, Honda 350cc Quad Bike and the Honda 250cc motorbike. Conventional trucks are also used for logistic purposes.
These vehicles can be variously configured with a range of heavy weapon systems; Browning 0.50 calibre machine gun, Mk 19 40 mm grenade launcher, twin or single L7A2 7.62 mm GPMG , and the MILAN anti-tank guided missile.
Inter-vehicle communication on the move may be by flashing light in the visible or infra-red spectrum, by flags or by arm signals.

The in-game Land Rover is the Land Rover Wolf 110 WMIK (Weapons Mount Installation Kit), pronounced as 'wimik'. The Weapon Mount Installation Kit is actually referring to the 'cage system' that holds the gimpy or 50 cal and is capable of 360 degree turns.
The Wmik land rover is used by air assault (ie - 16 Air Assault Brigade, like the Paras and Royal Irish) and highly mobile troops (like the LDG and Irish Guards). We use them as they are quick, aggressive, heavily armed, and fit into Chinooks and Hercs for TALO assaults.
The SAS's 'pinkie' is more specialised again than the WMIK, as it has smoke dispensers, IR Spotlights and extra storage bins. The weapon frame is slighlty modified and the vehicle's body is slightly wider.
And no, UKSF ingame are not getting their own 'pwn-all' vehicle.
Standard UK Forces LR 110 Wolf WMIK (during TELIC1 - Iraq 2003)

That's an unloaded MIRA launcher for MILAN AT on the back before anyone asks.

He's asking you where you served with Pathfinders in TELIC1, from what I understand of his post (and its a good deal more than I can understand of yours)
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

What was the name of the camp in Al Amarah you were at? Bet wikipedia doesn't tell you that.*=LD=*Snake_doctor wrote:Where you serving during TELIC1 with Pathfinders?
lol only if you realy new who i was Al Amarah
For the record I couldn't care less who you are, and I REALLY REALLY am trying not to 'get you killed'. Btw, you got your GCSEs soon? In saying that, most PF lads come from the Paras. So that would explain the P2 spelling
