Open/close cockpit

Post by Blackhawk 5 »

There should be an animation where the default parked vehicle (we're using an A-10 for example)

Parked:

Image

Once you hop in it slowly closes, and of the delay and youre off to go. I know of a mod that when you go in a vehicle, the view hatch slowly opens.

This is a suggestion for aircraft and attack helicopters. I dont know about land vehicles and other stuff i didn't mention it would look silly having a parked car with its doors all open. It makes more sense for the helis and planes..

I think its possible to do it since the EOD huey medivac door closes while in the air.

Obviously it's possible as you can close the Merlin's tail ramp. It's just the effort needed to get it in game.

IMO i think its useless but if it aint that hard and it is done right then why not.

This is probably impossible with vanilla vehicle models. The model would have to be taken apart, the canopy separated and animated, and that's not really something you do if you don't have the original model.

Well tbf, they use the start up time to go through their checks in reality. I just swing my pilots head around checking my attitude, compass/DI, ASI, RPM measure and altimeter. Even though they don't work lol :p

What about making it so that you can't hop out when the canopy closes? So that you have to stop to be able to get out of the aircraft. And if the canopy was closed, pushing E would do nothing. And if you wanted to get fancy, you could assign another key to eject the pilot by shooting him up in the air a little bit.

yes, this would add a nice little extra amount of detail. Small animations like these make the game so much cooler. I was going to suggest and animation for pulling the trigger when shooting, as there currently isn't one.

it would make some nice cinematic effects for anyone making an a-10 movie or something

in EOD when you land the medevac huey the side doors open, i thought it was a nice effect

Im pretty sure the deal with the Huey is altitude/speed based, like the landing gear in jets.

An animation of door opening and closing + sound, when you enter a Humvee, would be cool too....and maybe a sound of a hatch closing, when you jump in the tank...

its really more work than its worth. it dose not effect gameplay also so it goes right down to the bottom of the list of things to think about.

Wouldn't they have to remodel the whole plane?

IIRC its a USI Model so they'd prolly just let the PR guys modify it a bit. I dunno tho

I say make the whole minimap spin out of control wildly for the first 3 minutes in the jet to simulate INS aligning.
