What is the point of a point system?

Post by dandred »

Why bother it's so much like BF2.

Do we really need to know how well we did?

Is this just an E-penis thing?

Can people think of a better way to give people points.

At the moment the most important people get far fewer points. Squad Leaders. Crewmen.

In fact anyone with an important job gets very few points apart from pilots. :!:

Then people would stop flagging and start fragging and the team work aspect would diminish.

Make it that you win 100 points when you cap a flag, 50 when you heal and give ammo and 5 when you kill. Now we will see teamwork from those points whores !

There is no point to a point system, TBH.

i don't think anyone cares about the points, just the kills. you could remove points and nobody would care.

I already see it before me. Three Squads bunched at the flag, noone spreading out, because everyone wants the cap points. Noobtubers Paradise. :P

Points are like an AAR.

I think this thread was made, to make everyone think that the thread creator is uber teamworker!

But that's just my opinion.

Points are also useful for clans to recruit worthy people.

Points mean nothing in PR... you get points for standing around.

You do realise there is more than one type of point?

e.g. flag capture points, kill/death ratios, teamwork points, etc...

Sorry, but: No... In PR the Pointsystem says nothing about the "worth" of a player. You just can't measure something as complex as "Teamwork" with an automated Pointsystem.

I really can't be bothered to argue about something that's already been argued about hundreds of times before.

So AAR isn't realistic?

Well, get points for just being there and doing nothing...those points should be used for a "miss boredom" competition, lol

You get points when your squad makes points, easy as that.

I think everybody has to decide for himself if he cares about the points. I don't, if anybody does: His problem. :p

I think points in PR are assigned by an random number generator. I mostly have no idea where the hell they're coming from when I get them. But then, I don't even pay any attention to them.

I wonder what PR would be like without a scoreboard :O

Well, we need the scoreboard to see how much deaths we have accumulated and that's it. Though you can just calculate how much you have by counting the extra seconds after the 30 second spawn timer
