Dunno if it's possible or wether it's been discussed before but how about tracer rounds as you near the end of the mag. in you rifle That'd be cool.

What color tracers does china use? I know most armys use red/orange, but i heard some where (history channel i think) that the north Vietnamese used green.

Tracers aren't commonly used by riflemen... but some guys do stick one 2nd to last so they know they have one left. I suppose if it was included it'd only really be useful if they got rid of the ammo count meter, but it could be a nice bit of realistic eye candy.

Oh and the Chinese tracer colour... I'd assume Red/Orange like the Russians. Actually I think most use red because red phospherous is the most stable apparently... so it's less likely to cause problems if u scratch it or something unlike the white stuff... nasty!

Found something about tracers. I knew the Russian ( Warshau Pact ) was using green tracers.

The US and i suspect all western armies use red tracers as written down in the text.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracer_ammunition

The text even says something about...
Besides guiding the shooter's direction of fire, tracer rounds can also be loaded at the end of a magazine to remind the shooter that the magazine needs changing, particularly when using a weapon (such as an AK-47) that does not lock the bolt back when empty.

Depends... It is common usage in the Danish army (for all riflemen), to put tracers as 2nd and 3rd in the mag.

And Sgt's often have 1 or 2 mags only with tracers, to point out targets etc...

The problem with using tracers is that it'd obviously give your enemy a hint as when to jump out & shoot back :-|

No idea if it's still the case, I was told by a Para last weekend that they don't, but apparently during WW2 aircraft using tracers were having problems cause the tracer rounds were dropping more than normal rounds, meaning that only 1 in 5 was actually going where they thought...

well there needs to be something that gives away your position, not all weapons have flash supressors so to have no muzzel flash and no tracers would be total unrealistic

I'd really like to see what a tracer is like in action. I've never really come across these things before.

ROFL, at least in the IL-2 Series the german shoot blue tracers, don't know if they really did. But the game is supposed to be ultra realistic...

The video works with Divx or WMPlayer, bt without sound. QTime does sound but no pic :? ??: LoL

At least it shows a tracer bullet fly.

I've only come across tracers in red, yellow and green in real life...

And yes, it gives away your position, but IRL the benefits are bigger than the cons.
And in urban combat, when you're ***** in the middel of the street (with the insurgents on the roofs), with the dust, noise, confusion etc, it's nice to see, where to shoot (following your buddies tracers)! :-?
