Special Forces Officer
Kit
* Knife
* AK-101 with open sights (8+1 magazines)
* GP-30 Grenade Launcher (3+1 rounds)
* Smoke Grenade x 2
* Binoculars
So tell us about this guy? He is supposed to be the Insurgent squad leader, right? Is he MEC detached to support the insurgency, or what is he?

Ah, it seems as if some of our brethren have special training. Excellent I hear you say? No, this is not excellent; it is quite possibly the worst and least Insurgent-like of the entire arsenal. These brethren have trained with Infidels in the past so they know how to fight them but they are still woefully inaccurate. With this kit you would be best situated 100+m from the action firing the grenade launcher into the flag. Don’t even bother to try and hit a specific target, you will miss. After your explosive grenades are gone, throw your smoke grenades and charge the flag with the rest of your brethren. This is one of the least Insurgent-like kits because the tactics for this kit are similar to that of the Infidels. This lack can be made up by saying more Jihad calls to war than anyone else on the team.

Why? as i've said on many posts, i am no military man. but..Wattershed wrote:Give him a AK-47 with UGL instead! AK-101 is VERY unrealistic! Please!![]()
(with help from wiki) This weapon is in regular army service in; Bhutan, Cyprus, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Somalia, Uruguay, Russia.
The AK-101 is designed for the world export market, using standard 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridges
It will be on the open and black market freely. So why is it so unrealistic?
edit: the local warlord made a deal to swap one AK101 for every pound (lb) of refined poppy pulp with his Chechen brothers.
I like this weapon, and will have no trouble killing the virtual infadels where ever they invade.

lol please rather than just trying to shot down my post, why not give something yourself...Dyer |3-5| wrote:Please next time use a more credible source. I could go and change what the WIKI said right now and you would have no idea. I really hope that you don't belive everything that the mass media tells you either...
What is inaccurate?
Care to correct me?.. what have I posted that is inaccurate? and please show me your credible source.
What the hell does the 'mass media' have to do with anything posted here.
And I’m very aware of wiki's short comings.
So according to you we are not allowed to use wiki as a source of information, not ever? never? poor wiki.
just to wide you up.. also from wiki, my fav souce:
"A common misconception is that the AK-101 has entered service as the main assault rifle of the Russian Federation, but this is not true; the AK-74M is still the main assault rifle, the AK-103, a variant of the AK-101 firing 7.62 mm Soviet rounds, is in limited service with selected units in the Russian army, and the AN-94 is entering limited service in the elite forces of the Russian military, some Russian police forces, and the Internal Ministry of Affairs"
I'm sorry i did not quote the entire source the 1st time.. hope this help clarify my thoughts on the AK101 use in Russia! (which is entirly irrelevant to the original post.)

MadTommy they can't have the AK101 until the WiKi is changed to allow them to
Personally I side with MadTommy on this. I don't feel it's a huge issue if one kit in the insurgent line up has an ak101 with a GL. The insurgents are so varied and not structured that Im sure that they could have all kinds of weapons.

Taken from wiki:
"The AK101 is most commonly used weapon by the modern insurgent squad leader. These are a new breed of fighters that have smuggled their guns from places as far a field as Bhutan, Cyprus, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Somalia and Uruguay. There were also unfounded reports that they also brought them in from Russia”

Source:http://www.answers.com/topic/ak-101The AK-101 is an assault rifle of the Kalashnikov series. The AK-101 is designed for the world export market, using standard 5.56 x 45 mm NATO cartridges, which is the standard of all NATO armies. The AK-101 is aimed at those looking for the logistical compatibility and familiarity of the 5.56x45 NATO round with the proven quality and reliability of a Kalashnikov. Potential customers may be Western-oriented countries looking for just that. It is designed with modern and composite materials, including plastics that reduce weight and improve accuracy. Many of the improvements found in the AK-101 are also present in the AK-103 and the rest of the AK-10X series of rifles.
The AK-101 can be fired in semiautomatic and fully automatic. The disassembly procedure for the AK-101 is identical to that of the AK-74. The AK-101 has an optical plate installed on the side of the receiver for attaching scopes and other optical equipment, which will accept most types of Russian and European AK optics. The rifle accepts most synthetic and metal ammo magazines with 30 round capacity. The AK-101 has a 16 inch barrel with a AK-74 style muzzle brake attached to the barrel to control muzzle climb.
The AK-102, AK-104 and AK-105 are the designations given to the more compact carbine variants of the AK-10X rifle series, firing the 5.56 x 45 mm, 7.62 x 39 mm and 5.45 x 39 mm rifle rounds respectively. These carbines differentiate themselves from the normal rifles of the series in that they have much shorter barrels, only 314 mm in length. These AK-10X carbines, much like their rifle counterparts, were made primarily for export.
A common misconception is that the AK-101 has entered service as the main assault rifle of the Russian Federation, but this is not true; the AK-74M is still the main assault rifle, the AK-103, a variant of the AK-101 firing 7.62 mm Soviet rounds, is in limited service with selected units in the Russian army, and the AN-94 is entering limited service in the elite forces of the Russian military, some Russian police forces, and the Internal Ministry of Affairs.
Perhaps we could see an AK-104 instead of the AK-101. It is shorter, which would go well with the spec ops, and it fires the 7.62 x 39 mm ammo, same as the AK-47 thus it would be more likely that an insurgent would be able to get it.
