Suggestions about the medic class
Hi guys, I didn't find any thread regarding this, but if I'm wrong (and it was already suggested), I apologize.
1st suggestion: Medics can only heal a comrade if he (the wounded comrade) is on the prone position. Why? Well, it's a wound... it's just weird how medics heal people while they are shooting from the stand position at the enemy. So both - medic and the wounded soldier - would have to take cover first so the medic could provide medical care.
2nd suggestion: It'd be cool to add a certain percentage of the wound becoming a fatal wound. For exemple: you are wounded and you don't receive medical care in the very first minutes so there's a X percentage of chance this wound could become a fatal wound and you die (medics won't be able to heal the fatal wounds... obviously).
Well folks, sorry if this has already been suggested. Oh, english is not my first language so try not to look at the errors haha.

Yes, maybe. But well, things IRL are tough, and since this is a reality project...Long Bow wrote:I don't want to take the medic class and how they interact with the wounded to far. The great thing about the medics is that it allows for some great teamwork and rewards squads that stick together. If we start making the medics so complicated and the consequences so severe it will reduce the intense action around CP flags. The fact that medics can't self heal in 0.6 will make life that much harder for medics (which I support) and keep them in check.

*Just thought I'd paste this where it seems more relevant*
In the game most of the time I've seen people revived they duck out the fight to somewhere more covered then they get given first aid. I very rarely see people opening fire straight after being revived. I would of thought as well first aid has to be done as quickly as possible so would that not mean that it would be carried out fairly close to where a soldier went down?
I do see what you mean though, a few people do get revived then instantly go on to start laying down rounds with a machine gun or casually getting out their anti tank weapon and directing it at the armour that just took them down.
I think what might be nice is to have a delay after being revived where all you can do is crawl unarmed until you get to cover and get treated, or if possible make it so you have to wait until your at full health or 80-90% or something until you can get up and fight.
What might also be nice is to have field hospitals at main bases. So when a soldier goes down, then is revived and healed, they are much less mobile, shoot with less accuracy, have less stamina, etc, until they are taken back to a field hospital to be fully treated.
I can imagine the hardcoding of alot of things in BF2 would prevent alot of that, and alot of people wouldn't go to the effort of going back to a field hospital, and would either stick it out or rambo and respawn. It's a similar situation to what we have with the pilots, how to make the game realistic but without having ways of bypassing the realism.
*It's directed at a couple of posts from the thread it's from but it's not too hard to decipher really*

True and I have used that very argument before. My point was that with only having 32 soldiers to work with, not very realistic, the medics are a bit of a necessary evil. An effective medic in a squad promotes teamwork which is important I think. I don't want to promote non realistic features but I don't want to deconstruct the mod to make teamwork really difficult.RatU(BRA) wrote:Yes, maybe. I personally think that the medic is fine as it is. Your ideas are good but like the person who said it earlier, it would make the game too tedious. I understand that the game is trying to reflect reality, but it is still a game, therefore gameplay should be of equal if not slightly more importance than hardcore reality.
