dilusional.... because... it is horric to be a gunner, trying to hit a tank while you're moving and it's moving, go up and down tiny hills... or even zoomed in to try and get the best shot.

i bet you the reason there is no stabilization is because back in vBF2, the tanks were 1 man vehicles so there was no need. The player knew where the tank was going to go and also that he was looking out of the turret gunner's view might have had something to do with it.

50 cal gunners need a bit of protection... how about an armour plate like on the hummers etc?

Not being a Tank guy much, (yet), what is turrent stabilization?

what is a turrent?

:p

pet peeve heh.. it's feckin' turret :D

and stabilisation is what allows modern tanks to track targets while on the move.

There might be a way to do it in PR, we'll keep looking hehe.
shame that there is no way of mimicking an TIS even in a primitive way like the Operation Flashpoint "radar" for the commander
what did you mean by this?

That would require a remodel and is also not realistic. In real life, some tank commander's AAMGs are operable from under armor (hatch down), but otherwise, your hatch is your only cover. The loader's machinegun, if present, is sometimes fitted with a gun shield.

So changable position (outside/inside) for a 50 cal gunner is not possible? Like now we have duck to hide for some time (but still vurnable), so he could change position (c key) to go inside/outside tank. If inside he could watch area around tank through periscopes around hatch and couldn't be killed by snipers. If he want to shoot something he has to go outside with c key. So he could be an engeneer quite valuable to the tank crew...

Yeah as Eng I normally hide in the top MG, to repair when it's not so hot out.

Yeah, I was wondering if the issue with the tanks gunner position being highly unsafe will be fixed in the next release of PR. I think it’s fair to say that as the machine gunner when you press "Ctrl" to duck into the turret of the tank, you should be safe form most threats. But at present time it’s not like that in PR. Even if you press "Ctrl" to duck inside the turret of the tank, your still highly vulnerable to RPG hits, IED blasts, and you can easily get shot by a sniper on the roof. I think you should be as safe as your other crewman’s while you duck for cover inside the turret of the tank. This is an important issue which needs to be fixed.

Also, is it possible to change the inside view of the machine gunners position in the turrent to look something like this:
Image

I’m not proposing actual modeling of the insides to be done, but rather have some textures of inside machinery be seen while lowered inside the turret.

That's actually the TC station, the gunner station would look something more like this:

It would be cool if there could be modelled an inside view of the crew compartment even if it's just a 2D texture like in M1 tank platoon and Steel Beasts, but then again how useful would it be?

YES I know; I think you misunderstood. By “gunner” I don't mean the the station which (at present time in game) has control of the main 120mm cannon, I mean the .50cal machine gunner position and his view when you press "Ctrl" to duck. The only seat at present time available is the TC station which is equipped with a M2 .50 Cal machine gun, so I call it "the gunner". In reality the M1 Abrams class has 3 machine guns; one Browning M2 .50 Cal (commanders seat and the only one right now available in the game with a external machine gun), one is the M249 5.56x45mm (not in game), and the last one is a coax M240 7.62x51mm machine gun (in game; the gunner you thought I was talking about).

This is the view I'm talking about:

Also like I said before; The commanders position(the guy with the M2 .50cal machine gun) right now is highly vulnerable to RPG hits, IED blasts, and you can easily get shot by a sniper on the roof. So most importantly the Devs need to somehow tweak the TC's position so that when you press "Ctrl" to duck inside the turret, your as safe as the other crewmen inside the tank.
