Line of Fire!!!

Post by Army Musician »

Can people not run across your teammates line of fire, because if you do, you will probably tkd.

What p*ss me off most is: I am laying down suppressive fire, 1 round every 2-3 seconds, and I get and idiot (on my team) who comes out from an allyway runs straight across, my line of fire and he ends up dead, and I end up with about a score of -5000000 and boot up my arse.

and no I dont intentionally tk him.

Easier said than done... He probably didn't see him running across and he probably one shot killed him too... He was probably too focused on firing his weapon and plus by the fact the M249 ironsights covers up your view...

Don't have to be 1 shot. It could be the SAW running hot and folks STILL run straight infront of it.

Yeah, this is very frustrating, especially when firing on full auto. Nothing worse than having an idiot run in front of you right as you fire your SAW and a 5.56 goes through his head.

Not many that "check ones 6" before rushing in. I have sinned. I have died. I have apologized for my stupidity.

It's one of those classic errors that you see every day ingame
people silhoetting themselves against the sky, standing out in the open when there is cover every where, bunching on flags but dispersing in the open, advancing under fire rather than fall back to cover, ammo, comrades...

Yeah people do this a lot, I think they get too excited, hate it when people punish for it too. I have to admit I've even done it myself but I would never punish.
+ I think that people need to use more suppressive fire and I mean more often and more rounds, I dont know if you mean't literally 1 round per 3 seconds (army musician) but to me that is not very suppressive, thats what I would call carefully picking your shots (which is obviously good but not suppressive). Suppressive fire should be lots of rounds put down to pin the enemy down and not even giving them a chance to raise their heads imo

Well the smart ones are the ones giving the cover fire, and are in the safety of some form of cover usually. Sometimes an attacker may be under fire, and if your teammate is not willing to stop firing, and you (the attacker) need to get behind cover ASAP, then so be it. You either die from the enemy or your teammate.

I'm a bit tired, sorry if that was lacking a good explanation.

Suppressive fire is 1 to 2 rounds fired every three seconds, blasting away with your SAW is going to do 2 things -

1) youre going to run out of ammo faster
2) Barrel will overheat and youll have to change it (not in the game at the moment)

And when theres a whole fireteam putting down this sort of supressing fire down on the enemy thats a steady stream of fire coming against an enemy, they might be in a doorway, or in a window and they wont be poking their heads out.

Then again, i find that supressing fire doesnt really work on this game, its useless to some degree, real soldiers dont want to get shot, you get paid to get shot at, but you dont want to get shot, but in PR you dont mind getting shot, you sit out for a minute, oh well, ill get a drink, take a piss, and ill be back in the game with 20 seconds to spare.

As for accidental teamkills, they will and always be YOUR fault, ive done it before, shouting that im throwing a nade in, guy runs straight past me, into the building gets twatted by my nade and then says that i did it on purpose.

well 1 round every 2-3 seconds, in the British Army is known as Rapid fire, and is used for supressive fire, as well as at the deliberate rate of 1 round every 7 seconds, keeping their heads down, although in American Army, rapid fire is probably more like 20-0 rounds per second.

After years and years of playing ghost recon, one learns VERY quickly not to run in someones line of fire. In PR you can get away with it, but GR, 1 shot and youre probably out

Thanks for explaning that and to army musician too,I stand corrected, not afraid to admit I was wrong. I suppose I've been watchin too many rambo films, as suppressive fire on that is about 5000 rounds and 20 grenades per minute. I agree too that suppressive fire doesnt work too well, there is no way to simulate fear of death in a game, well not yet anyway!

My personal favorite is when you put SLAMs on a enemy RP and you still have idiots on your team laying right next to it try to kill people as they spawn in. No one reads the chat area I guess when I say 'move *enterhandlehere*, I put slams on the RP!' *!Boom!* Identitystolen Teamkills *enterhandlehere* and I get punished...

On thing that does help me avoid friendly fire is to zoom in the mini map and keep an eye on the blue and green dots. If they get close to entering that little directional indicating arc-thingy on the mini map, I quit firing and check where they're going and adjust my fire accordingly.

Vanilla dumbass-ness....

Don't take cover, rush in and get shot in the back by friendlies, cos you just have to get your *** in front of them....

My advice is to check frequently for "friendlies" that will jump in front of you, and wait for a sec, so the enemy wastes them, then start shooting again and probably take out the guy, who just shot the dumbass for you...

Dont try and make out that all people who play VBF2 are retards, because that is certainly not the case, and it pisses me off the amount of posts that simply point out that "oh, they must be a VBF2 player!".

For the most part it is the fault of the person firing the gun and not because of other squad members movement, call your targets out, tell people what youre aiming at, theyll know to be cautious and they wont get caught in your fire.

Dont blame people, Help them.
