We have all heard the pros and cons of the mini-map over the last ... long time. Everyone has something to add or to remove. If this has been sugessted then so be it nd if it can't be done that sucks.
Most of us have seen the pictures of the new gear that the Army is using. Well I was thinking maybe it would be possible to make it so that instead of just having the mini-map chillin in the top corner or moved to the bottom corner covering your life saver (weapon). What kind of respect is that to your weapon? Anyway, make it as something like the Map (m). BUT have it like a pull down. Like the little eye viewer that the would display the map on the left/right side of your screen.
Sure it would cover up a porion of the useable view screen but it would simulate the attention being taken off of whats going around you to see the map. The 3d map could also moved into the pull down mini-map so that you woulsn't have this random floating flags and move markers across the screen. but they would actually be in the eye viewer on the mini-map.
The idea of just having it as a pull down is soemthng that is used ... or was planning on being used. It would being in the realism of having one of your eyes blocked by the viewer which would make you only able to use the mini-map when you knew it was safe. (This could also make sqauds stay closer during firefights, but I am not 100% on that.) Sure it would block your screen but you dont have to have it down.
If you really wanted to crazy with it which I think would be cool but not nesseccary ... (not that any of this is neccessary) is that you would have to get new batteries from ammo bags or other ammo givers. Since part of the problem with this system is the amount of power it consumes and the amount of batteries the soldiers can carry.
Its just an idea ... think about it. And this is a very good point I just confused you so just bare with the idea.

Not your regular Mini-map
"They can also be used to provide public service messages: stay away from munitions; units are coming through; stay off the streets because the armored vehicles are dangerous.”

i agree with some suggestions to get rid of it and to keep it, this is a good idea but i think it would result in WAY too many team kills. There are already plenty already, before i shoot i glance at the mini-map to make sure i don't wipe out my CO, but if you've got to pull down the map and check your surroundings that way, it will just lead to even more tk's i think.

I think it should be part of your kit. It will look like a GPS, and clicking fire will cause you to bring the GPS up to your face, so you can view it. Clicking again will bring it back down in your hand.
To prevent teamkills, the developers need to make the differences between uniforms more substantial, especially in maps like Mao Valley.
