Humvees, Why sit in the back?

Post by CadetFox »

First of all, What is up four guys flipping open the back of the humvee and deciding, "Hey its better back here!" and not using the armor plated doors but rather creating an awesome target for insurgents to unload on.
There should be humvees where the passengers USE the seats in the humvees and making maybe only 5 seats (Driver, Gunner, Shotgun, Two back seats). I dont see the use of using the back of the humvee to drive through cities in. Do they really do that? I hope not.
So it would be more realistic to close that opening in the back of the standard humvee and creating one seat to the left of the gunner and another seat to the right of the gunner.

The TOW HMMVV's are like that, however you cannot shoot from the seats (must be hardcoded ;) Also, these are not armored HMMVV's, so IRL sitting in the back is actually safer as it allows you to bail w/o opening a door first.

For the Chinese heavy jeep, the sixth position (shotgun) you can shoot your weapons from your seat... vBF2's Chinese heavy jeep didn't have that implemented, so it must not be hard coded... At least I hope not...
Edit: Yeah, you can shoot out the windows in the Chinese heavy jeep... Just wanted to make sure...

The line of fire is pretty limited though, you can't turn your head all the way to the right but you can turn to see most of the left side... Plus the windshield is so close up when you're looking straight ahead, the player should be moved a little back...

Vanilla jeeps do look like they have some impromptu armor plates on the doors... I always though the the way people sit in these jeeps is stupid as well. The rear is open for all sorts of hurt to come in (I bet someone is going to turn this sentence around and make it sound inappropriate). The passengers have their legs outside of the vehicle, which would be a great way to lose them, if it were real life. The people crouched in the back would end with their necks broken if the Humvee hit something.

Lets just say the HMMWVs in PR need to be remade(I know they Devs didn't model the present vehicles), cause right now it looks like they've been brough back from the first Gulf war.
For more info on what I mean, look here:

Because that Humvee was created by EA, and i guess of the visual glitching of the bf2 engine, they decided to remove the trunk and put boxes int he seats. By means of visual glitching, the kit including the backpack if able to shoot out the window will go theough the seats.

lol, cheesemans thread was locked, I expect this one to be too.

I wonder, If we could use the USI Humvee and change it to use the CROWS.
we could call it up-armored, because it look beefer than vBF2 version.

Add a hard roof to the back of the humvee and remove the guard armor plates on the .50 cal.

Actually... other than the open back being completely unrealistic, the EA designed HMMWV is more realistic than the USI's (in terms of Up-armored variant). The USI HMMWVs are modeled like a standard Humvee(almost no armor protection) used in the first Gulf War.

Hi there, and welcome.
see you new to the forums and have just submitted your 1st post and suggestion.
Here at PR industries, a regular occourance is that someone will come up with an idea and a short or long period of time later, someone else will have the same idea, and just cant wait to spread their idea. Im affraid you are one of those people, Fox.
Under forum rules, I am obliged to closing this thread as the topic has been descussed before, if not multiple times.
Dont be affraid, you've done nothing wrong(well, not much :) )
To avoid these occourances, we all use the Search funtion. This can be located at the top of every page, in bold black letters between Googlemap and Quick links.
Try searching 2-3times with similar wording in the search bar to make sure you dont re-post an already existing thread.

Thank you,

you cant sit inside the humvees because that cheaky quartermaster, got sick of every one requesting whisky and glued all the doors shut, so every one had to climb through the back boot.

1) - For balance reasons, PR will not implament fully enclosed Humvees untill the Chinese gain a transport vehicle that provides greater protection than the present 6 man jeep (not fact but my conclusion from many previous DEV comments)

2) - Due to time and effort limitations/ restraints, the modeling of a new Humvee, or any non British transport vehicle has been placed very low down on the DEVs list of things to do, prioritories. (fact)

3) - Through Black Sands, the PR DEVs can aquire fully enclosed Humvees both free and instantly from the USI mod. They have done so, both in the repair vehicles (mec and US) and the US TOW humvee. (fact)

4) - In conclusion, do not expect a fully enclosed 50cal or hopefull M240 Humvee till atleast 1.0 or more likely, 1.1 or 1.2 unless.............

5) - Top Cat has given up almost all hope (not totaly though, little left in me) of perswading the DEVs to use the USI Humvee imdietely due to their balance reason, which is decent and legitermate reason i must add, however not nesserseraly correct. HOWEVER DUE TO THE PR DEV'S AIM TO CREATE ASEMETRIC WARFARE, I believe it is in their interests to the provide the US forces with the DCon 50cal Enclosed Humvee imdietely, when combined with increased realistic equipement and weapon handeling (namely the RPG and improve balistics), the idea that it will unbalance games seem alot less likely and verging on the very unlickely when against the MEC or any IDE wielding insurgent.

Well...this has been suggested many times before, and usually ends up with "Why not use a USI model without the TOW on?".
