Combat Tempo
I'd like to suggest something. For one from what I can see, all maps on Vbf2 and PR are all based on Operations. Especially PR. This implies that there is an active movement of ground assets to secure a mentioned objective with a defending and attacking party. This means that all combatants will be heading into the combat zone with the intent and expectation of contact and therefore will be equipped appropriately.
Therefore. Can there be a map/mode where we can simulate a Non Operation? For example a firebase or a Base of Operation in a city with regular patrols sent to secure the place. With insurgents located around places with the intent of survival yet inflicting casualties. With troops within the base acting as a QRF. This makes the commanders position as a coordinator even more important. And patrols even more sense since you're trying to remove the threat thats hiding but not being aggresive.
I suppose this can be simulated by having a Fixed Spawn point for the Allied forces and possibly RallyPoints for insurgents. With insurgents moving the rallypoint around to avoid discovery but in an optimum position to attack.
For this map/mode. Each death should be very damaging to tickets making it a very death concious game. Each death taking away 5 tickets or something like that. (must be discussed in detail since I can see some abuses)
What do you guys think?

I think that's a good idea. The only change I'd make is that every player gets 2-3 lives individually which, when lost, can't be replaced. Then make it so that when 50% (or some other pre-arranged number) of players are gone permanently, game over.
There's no reason to call people's ideas stupid, especially when they aren't.

Why would people want to play in a game that they would have to leave after 3 deaths? Dumb idea.JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:I think that's a good idea. Because they maybe...just maybe would appreciate the heigthened Thrill this would produce.ub3rxn00b wrote:Why would people want to play in a game that they would have to leave after 3 deaths? Dumb idea.
Always being aware of any possible threat,at last a way to set up properly ambushes and so on.
I would imagine it like this: The Insurgents have about half an hour or such to Destroy Something valuable at the USMC Base. They could either try an frontal attack(Bad Idea since there are walls,Mounted Mgs and everything to make your day veeery bad) Or bring the Usmc Tickets to 0 or weaken them so much that tehy couldnt stand an frontal attack.
The special thing would be that there are some CPs near the Homebase which are easy to obtain(just 10 Seconds for Usmc or Something.),but exposed,so that You could not make a stand there but have to send out Patrols regularly to take them back(I would imagine wide open places with entranceable[does this word even exist?]Houses aurond them and no cover, just not defenable).
The USMC would have some Hummers, maybe one Apc und two unarmed little Birds or one Black Hawk, nothing heavier. The Insurgents would have more and movable Spawnpoints and greater numbers in exchange.
Just a bit more detailed.
But first just lets see what the new Insurgent mode will bring.

I like the tickets and the non operation operation.
It would not be a super popular game mode but I think it would get a signifigant amount of play because yuo have to be careful and pretend like this is the only life you have to give for your cause.
I though someone had said you could not have a limited number of spawns but if that was possible it would make it much more even handed.

And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

I think that what you mean to say is "in my narrow concept of what constitutes an acceptable play experience, this idea would not fit. I'm sorry I'm so unable to at least act open minded, and promise to work on that."ub3rxn00b wrote:Why would people want to play in a game that they would have to leave after 3 deaths? Dumb idea.
People would play the game because they value a game mode where people place more value in their lives. They would appreciate the realistic elements this would bring. The most obvious example is that when someone was under covering fire, they wouldn't pop up and try to shoot their attacker. Instead they'd try their best to get away unseen. Realistic, like.

This could also bring out the Civilian Class more. Imagine the Insurgents, Civilians, and Marines. No one gets a minimap (you can still pull up a full size map, as if you were carrying a paper one, and HMMWV's would get Minimaps to simulate the blue force tracker). You have to go out and talk to civilians, which wouldn't have a side. They could tell you of Insurgent positions, or of where the USMC patrol is. Not certain what the incentive to be Civilians would be. Alternatively, have all insurgents start as Civilians, and they have to pick up AK's and the like from ammo caches. That way there would always be some civilians wandering around. Marines would have to respond to attacks on Civilians. Imagine an IED goes off in the middle of crowd of civilians. Marine Patrol leaves the base to visit the scene of the attack and is ambushed en route. I'm just pitching ideas out here in no particular order. Ooh maybe an Iraqi police class for the USMC?

It seems that ub3rxn00b has a trend of going from thread to thread in the suggestion forum calling every idea he finds a flaw in, a "dumb idea", instead of adding some constructive criticism.
Aside from that, this would be a cool game mode. I think it would make the round a whole lot more intense as one can not just die over and over again.
