Statics - Whatdya want?
Hey,
Well I've recently got back into fiddling around with Moddeling programs, I used to make a lot of statics for OFP (Operated under the name of A.W.O.L). Oxygen of course was very easy, but also limited in comparison. So I've recently got a copy of 3ds max. Now, I'm pretty confident on resuming my pass time of making statics. So too all you map makers, what do you need/want?

Also a question too mappers...
Would you prefer pre-laid out rooms, or a separate package which could allow you too place you own furniture.
IE If i was too build 3 buildings, I would release say 10-15 object's which could fill them such as an Upturned bed, chairs, tables and a toilet.
Would you find this more beneficial? I'm not sure how Easy to would be for the mapper too place the individual objects, but it would create a more dynamic environment for mappers.

I am currently working on a HUGE urban map, therefore I would prefer buildings with interiors separated from objects that could be placed inside them to reduce lag.Ecko wrote:Also a question too mappers...

Also, if I were you I wouldn't focus so much on "cosmetic" stuff such as furniture, there's a big demand for more variations in buildings because right now the urban environments look very monotonous.

If you can manage to make those buildings and objects destructable, it will be even better
Placing objects inside a building is east, but takes time when you make a huge city
if you can, make both, a clean version, with separate objects, and one with pre-placed objects
That way, we could desing it the way we like/need

interior objects are not really necessary...especially if we trying to save on polys (which we are)
i would a nice set of maybe 8-10 new middleeastern houses. 2-3 storey, enterable would be great...
a few notes on those pics you have there... all the roof tops are walled so we could use them as a defence...
additionally if you want to accesorise the statics build some new wall sets and other enviornment decorations..
i think a big mistake new mappers make is just placing buildings without considering the surrounding "land" the owner has...a yard or something... this is also a good way to make the space look full without having to use a million building statics...
so maybe some patios/garages/walls etc....would be cool...

I would like to see some generic office/shops statics that are enterable. With the upcoming inclusion of the Chechen factions, some generic buildings that fit their area's of operation would also be good.
Has anyone ever checked out CQB? This Japanese made mod has some amazing custom statics, including some interesting shops/school/office's that are all enterable.
I applaud anyone who is willing to contribute their time by designing anything for the community.

Something that has always puzzled me is that Iraqi houses seem to be built for defensive combat, but it's no wonder considering Saddams reign over Iraq for that long.'[R-DEV wrote:IronTaxi']

I personally Have no idea how too make an object destroyable, but what I can do is create a section that has the potential too be destroyed and hand the model over too some one else too code.'[R-PUB wrote:Hfett']If you can manage to make those buildings and objects destructable, it will be even better
