Ahh.... gotta love the realism.......

No Armed! You're *not* supposed to shoot the civs! This would just confuse you!ArmedDrunk&Angry wrote:Can they give the Civ's some long hair and tye die shirts ?
and maybe some flowers too ?
This isn't meant too be real Combat. It's about holding an area whilst enemy insurgents are operating and trying too disrupt this piece process. Do you think our boys in Iraq/Afghan simple shout out too the civilians "EH MATE, GET INSIDE SO WE CAN SEE WHO IS SHOOTING?" Nah they don't.Clypp wrote:5 minute penalty max? Civilians are going to be running in front of tanks and driving over mines just to piss off the other team. In real combat civilians go inside or leave the city before the battle. This is not realistic at all.
Err... no. You learn off us. We've been around for much longer than you, and we know how to handle it. In comparison to the UK, America is just a little toddler still learning to walk. If you are British, ask the Americans first.
If you are Not British or American, do what the f*** you like, and what is best for you.

What you don't get is that the Civilian class is INTENDED to be a class that:Determined wrote:It will be misused and it will suck. If you knew you could cause the enemy to have crazy long spawn times, why wouldn't you purposefully seek out ways to get him to shoot you? That is not realistic at all.
I couldn't of said it any better my self. Heck, I was planning on some Team Back stabbing Role Playing Double Agent work to help the Americans with my shovel and insane amount of Bandages in exchange for metaphorical food and them not to shoot me while hopefully giving my team some good scout information.'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']What you don't get is that the Civilian class is INTENDED to be a class that:
1. support the insurgency without being a direct combatant
2. griefs the conventional forces

And as far as "realism" goes well.. um.. the whole thing about a computer game representing reality is only taken literally by people with psychological problems. This is all a metaphor. The use of a metaphor to represent a Civilian element within an Insurgency is closer to how we want to see an Insurgency played out than the way the current Insurgents are modelled.
But realistically there would be more than 10 civilians in a massive city, players actively hunting out ways too die will basically even out the fact there arn't many civilians about.Fenix16 wrote:Agreed, however there will be some very unrealistic aspects to this as well. For instance, I highly doubt a real civilian would throw himself at a coalition grenade. Meanwhile PR civilians can cause the poor grenades owner quite a bit of grief by doing just that. This is also applied to any other form of explosive or even just intentionally jumping in the way of gunfire.

Here is the saving grace.... hopefully not too many people will use it. If organized though, it would be ugly.Ecko wrote:But realistically there would be more than 10 civilians in a massive city, players actively hunting out ways too die will basically even out the fact there arn't many civilians about.
