Hmm.. i wonder.. seeing as I've never even looked into modding for BF2, I can't say. But if there will be seperate driver/gunner positions there is no choice but to do it the way you say. Can you picture trying to control a turrent when you driver is moving all over the place?

Btw, next time you're bored, hope onto TS and we'll hit up some BF2 :D

Hehe that is a good point Artnez.com.

I would also like to have a stabilized turret of some sorts, in BF2 it's still way to shaky. Let's hope it's doable though.

Thats because in UT2k4 your target recticle is not directly tied to your turret. The turret moves to your crosshair, but its not always pointing where your crosshair is pointing, for example, its possible to turn your crosshair faster then the turret, in which case the turret plays catch-up

Which is a great idea and is nicely done in COD by the way.

No, that is exactly why, because the crosshair isn't directly tied to the turret location bumps do not effect your crosshair and it can stay pointed on target, and because the turret automaticly tracks to the crosshair the turret AI makes the rapid adjustments which keep the turret on target. This gives you the illusion the turret is somehow more stable, when in reality its just that the computer is doing the adjustments for you.

however, this is also exactly how modern tanks are capable of perfect aim over rough terrain, the gunner aims the laser, and the computer aims the gun.

so then really when put like that it isnt an illusion that the turret is more stable, since its still able to hit targets even if it isnt pointing directly at the crosshair, it is still stable enough so that when you pull the trigger you can put shells on target regardless of terrain and movement.
