Sandbags

Post by Dunehunter »

I used the search function, but didn't find anything...

Is there any way to make sandbags and a number of other types of cover just a bit lower? Right now, when you crouch, you can't see over them. And when you stand up, you get a lot more recoil, plus you're an easy target.

Maybe lower the terrain underneath them or something? I know nothing at all about modding or making maps for BF2, I'm just curious.

Not a bad idea, I've never thought of doing that. It can be done.

No, mappers could lower the sandbags, so you could stick your head over them while crouching, but then the sandbags would look like the shooting gallery with all the faces popping up :p

Anyone thought of a sandbag model with shooting holes, kinda like the medival walls thing?

I don't want to bother, so:

[insert speculation on how cool it'd be if the game properly simulated supported positions here]

How would you lay them? With bags full of sand? In real life? Wouldn't the hole just close? (reply to shooting holes in them)
Lol, I'm not army sandbag layer not sure if ti can be done.. Not trying to sound offensive I find it rather annoying too to not be able to shoot over sandbags without being too exposed.
EDIT: I unserstood it wrong.. I think I got it now, like if you cut a piece off from above into the sandbag.. Lol like on top of the castle walls.

"How would you lay them? With bags full of sand? In real life? Wouldn't the hole just close"

what we did was we had two bags on top of eachother, then a plank or something above and then bags on top again...

like this

BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,bag
_____plank/flat object____
BAG,BAG(empty space) BAG,BAG
BAG,BAG(empty space)BAG,BAG
BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,
BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,
BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,BAG,

Mappers can raise/lower sandbags however if it gets low to a point that nobody can fit through the door :p Also if theres a MG on the sandbag and its bad enough you are able to glitch in and not be able to get out.

this is kind of a funny thing though casue EA didnt need to worry about these crouch/prone heights too much cause nobody used them casue you were only a live for like 2 second...but now in PR we have to be careful about it for new statics...
