Ok so it seems alot of people have this close to desktop problem. As far as i can see it mainly happens on maps with alot of grass and trees, especially when driving. ive tried closing background programs (improved the lag), ive tried defraging, i have the game set at its lowest settings, ive tried updating my nvidia drivers and yet on the chinese maps (where the bamboo and grass) is it usually crashes to desktop (CTD). it seems less apprant on the maps in citys/the airport. So if anyone has solved this problem, in anyway, by any method could you please post it up here to help out those which also have this problem. cheers

This issue happened to me while running an SP (PR) game, I think it has something to do with the Engine because it does it to me every now and then in BF2142 as well. I haven't had it do it to me in normal BF2, yet, but I haven't been playing it for more than 2 weeks.

I know the BF games have bugs in them that hinder performance, one of my friends made his own top of the line Gaming PC and the game runs really well on it with moderatly high settings, yet everyone once in a while the game does something stupid, like crashes.

Just curious what would be causing my BF2 to stop running then I'm told to restart to activate PR. I go into the Community > Custom Games and click on "Project Reality" and hit Activate. I'm prompted to be sure I want to load the mod and restart BF2, but when BF2 closes and reopens just before it even gets to the EA Games screen it closes. I tried this at medium settings at 1280x960@60Hz resolution and again at low settings at 800x600@60Hz resolution and it still closed to the desktop, any ideas?

I get this too, but only on SP. BF2 did it a lot before v0.41, or the latest patch (for me). Bf2142 did it infrequently. It is the most annoying bug ever, and because of it I have never been able to play some of the maps on PR.

I get the same problem over and over again.... its not just in single player, in multiplayer as well. In every map, specially the chinese maps. It gets pretty annoying, to the point of me posting here saying that the game crashes EVERY 10 MINUTES!!!

My computer has a 1gb of ram, nvidia geforce 7300 video card and Intel centrino duo 2.2 . . . . It never crashes in bf2 vanilla (i would rather spend time playin PR than vanilla bf2.. but it keeps crashinG!!). I can't post screenshot.. nor fraps video... because the freezes and goes to the desktop. I lowered my graphics, closed background programs, even reinstalled bf2 and it didn't change at all. I don't know how to fix it.... i hope you can reply as soon as possible

i get this as well on PR SP albasrah, i have a geforce 7300 like w3r0 and an amd 4000+ and 3 gig ram and i run SP with 39 bots (20 per side inc. me) so it shouldnt be a problem... is there any solution for this? if so please PM me ... pretty please

I noticed that some of the original BF2 maps would run pretty good and very few PR maps would run a full game. Chinese maps like mao valley or wtver, ghost bridge? (brit vs chinese), would crash frequently. I have never been able to play a full game recently... very sad because its such a cool mod and BF2 game overall.
