Lotta people like to ***** about the engine... (try modding it lol).
But even from a modding perspective it's pretty good. Two years after it's release and most of us here are still playing and developing mods on it... that's pretty good value.
Stuff I like (some of which has been enhanced by PR, particularly in v0.6):
- combined arms
- large maps (PR v0.6 17 sq km)
- long view distances (PR v0.6 1 km)
- python mod'ability
- class based
- general mod'ability (as much as there is that's hard coded, the model for modding the engine is actually well designed)
- extended mod'ability (a lot of stuff is *possible* in the engine .. just need to be creative and have a lot of patience)
- visually looks good (bit dated now, but still looks decent)
- fairly polished (while there are bugs and issues, it's a pretty polished AAA mainstream engine)
I won't go into the stuff I don't like

It's performance and graphics. The sound engine is very nice and it's a brilliant learning curve for audio engineers trying to break into the game business. That said, it's a great audio engine compared to most games but it's still shit in comparison to what game audio engines should be aiming for. -shakes his fist at creative labs-

deja vu...............*blinks repeadily*, 2 eggs, hmm the possiblities...........
1) Squad system
2) Voip System
3) Big maps
4) Long drawdistances.
Top 4 becuase with out those things, PR is just another rambo FPS.
Modability means nothing to me, dont say, indirectly important, while graphics and sound are only important when i compared them directly with others games, but have not played another game for a good half a year so...lol, no probs there1

but nothing like joint ops's 150 man servers. i never have prblems when playing on them. they now even have a mod that can have 250 people on it. so dont brag about bf2's 64. 64 was the number 3 years ago.mammikoura wrote:that would have been my answer too.
But other than that, I love the fact that you can have up to 64 players on the same server. It's quite a lot compared to other fps games.

The features I do like I ruined by the hardcoding of the engine.
Squad system. Can't have more than six, unless you use the method where you invite some people and then a bunch of people join before they accept invitation... that's how I assume it works.
VOIP. Squad leaders can't talk to each other. Gay.
How can some of you stand looking at the graphics? They're awful, in my opinion!

BF2's squad system and battlerecorder would be my answer I suppose. If BF2 engine werent a damn good one with all the great things it provided to community, we would be discussing the ups and downs of another game engine on which PR was based here.
I also love the big map support and cannot wait the 0.6 for even bigger ones. Go PR !
