Read my post about the noticeable differences between a M16A2, and A4.superdj wrote:Exscuse me for being a super noob, but what's the difference between the m16A4's and the m16's already in-game?
Hers my post from the previous page:
For visual proposes hers a image of both rifles:No all those pictures are M16A4's. A2's don’t have a flat top with the Picatinny rail. A2's have fixed carrying handle iron sights attached to the top receiver. Both the M16A3's and A4's have a flat top upper receiver, but A3's have fully automatic capabilities, while the A4's are more like A2's with the addition of a few modern features like the detachable carrying handle sights.
You can also tell from the carrying handle thumb nuts(in red) located on the left side, while on the right side you can tell from the two parallel groves on the bottom of the carrying handle:
four handguards on the barrel:
Do you mean the handguard with the four Picatinny rails for mounting accessories? If so then, even the A2's can be configured with these handgaurds(rarely done). It all depends on the mission. For example; The USMC sometimes uses the ribbed full lenght handguard(seen on the A2) on their M16A4's for training proposes, but in combat they use the KAC M5 RAS handguard.

Ah, but you see, if the flattop and M5 RAS are modeled they can add an ACOG and all sorts of 1337 goodies.
By the way, the A3 has the fixed carry handle, not the flat top.
EDIT: cut off part of the stock to shave the poly-count? don't see most of that, even during reload animations and things like that.

pwntThe M16A4 otherwise is similar to M16A2, while M16A3 has a full-auto capability instead of the 3-rounds burst
This switch has 3 positions: "safe", "semi" (single shots), and "auto" (full automatic on M16A1 and A3) or "burst" (3 rounds bursts, on M16A2 and A4). In the latter case (on the M16A2 and A4 rifles), the trigger unit also includes the ratchet device to count the shots

Now what did I say?
I've freaking quoted myself 3 times already.
Does no one read my posts? Both the M16A3's and A4's have a flat top upper receiver, but A3's have fully automatic capabilities, while the A4's are more like A2's with the addition of a few modern features like the detachable carrying handle sights.

That quote says nothing about the carry handle.. and the "Flattop A3" there only has two selector positions.. some civilian model of the A4?
you can't be right, I'm always right!
EDIT: I read your post, and I was clarifying that the A3 does NOT have a flat top.. I'll bet you my first born it doesn't! and the quote I was talking about was A10's from world.gun.ru

When I say "Both the M16A3's and A4's have a flat top upper receiver" what am I saying, can you please translate?
When I say A3's "have fully automatic capabilities" what am I saying?
When I said "the A4's are more like A2's with... the with that addition of detachable carrying handle sights" what am I saying?
Let me make it clear. "Flat top" means it has Picatinny rail on the upper receiver of the rifle instead of haveing fixed carrying handle sights like the A2's. Meaning both the A3 and A4 have detachable carrying handle.

Looking over Colt's website, they make fully automatic M16s with both fixed carry handles and flat top rails.. d'oh

Will in, my previous post about the pictures all being A4's I mentioned the A3 being much like the A4 (having a flat top), since a lot of people get confused, and mistake the A4 of being fully automatic. So I brought the A3 up to explain that the A4 is much like an A2 (3 round burst rather than full auto), but without the fixed carrying handle iron sight, while the A3’s like an A4 with fully automatic selector instead of burst. But I guess some people missed my post and asked what I had already tried to answer.sekiryu wrote:What the hell does the M16A3 have to do with a thread about the A4?
Also, great job on that model bosco. Side by side a real M16A4, your model is almost identical in dimensions. Take a look:

Of course yours is the USMC issued, and has the KAC M5 handgaurds, while the one above has the ribbed full lenght handguard. Also the one above is a picture I fliped so it shows the left side of the rifle, so none of you get confused
