Alternative Battlefield Ranking Progress

Post by [ABR]satcom »

Hey guy's!
Look Who's back!!! - Yes the ABR team!

We are stil alive, better yet, we're about to go Kickin'

- that means, kicking off with the first Public Release of ABR v1.0!

But, im in need of some creative minds, who want to help with Graphics and PR.

Do you have a Website? - Do you want to have a scoop or inside information on Alternative Battlefield Ranking?
ASK US! we are glad to tell you all about it, as long as you serve the community by putting your interview or beta test on your website.

in the next few day's we're starting to stress test the World database and statistics database.

Stay tuned for the most sophisticated Ranking system for Battlefield2 Since EA.

Here a short wrapup why our system is better than EA's
- Multiple Ranked Worlds
- Everybody can have a Ranked server!
- Lightning fast Stats Updates ( almost realtime )
- Ranked Mod support
- Custom Rank, Medal & ribbon support
- Total control over Unlocks Medal & ribbon criteria ( per world )
- Web Backend, Same Framework as http://bf2web.gamespy.com - with some extra's
- ABR Main Website, with World Stats, countrystats, Playerstats Mapstats etc etc.

Regards,
The ABR development team

- since we are preparing for the launch, we urge you to goto http://www.multiplayer-central.com for more information.

Interesting.

Which database server are you planning to use for data storage and what version?

In any case, if you guys are in need of some more creative programmers, I'd love to participate in a project like this. Seems right up my alley :]

Good luck!

Looks very interesting, the ability to add your own rewards and medals sounds very interesting indeed.

i see someones read some of my previous thoughts on the subject

no they wont i am and always will be an idealist and as far as stats go they will always be for me what really destroys BF2, not the thousands of bugs or unrealistic play, i loved battlefield42 and BFV because it wasnt goal oriented

and dont take this personally i respect your opinion and give you credit for taking the time to come up with something like that

i have had some deep thought about your opinion, ad i respect them, actually im witnessed your 'theory' many times with many games.

But, i still have some light in that dark dark tunnel you are in.

So you dont like Medals, badges etc.
But you do like a Sig when posting on the forum!

in short, it only take some minor adjustments, and they will be implemented!
im talking about "Manual Ranking/Badges/Ribbons" ofcourse, turning off the Public stats for your world would be a logic step :)

There you have it!

Your mod eventually decides how you will be decorated.
Your BFhq, Can show you your scores(if enabled) your decorations, your clan mate's!!
Ingame, you could have your Rank visible, and there is even a possibility to trigger a Medal -or a rank achivement INGAME, by an serveradmin thru console command/trigger!

lets face it beckwith, you still might not like it, but i do want to serve a wider community then only statscrazy bunnyhoppers.
i still think you guys should get a taste of it, and *maybe* use it in your PRMM-T project.
i really hope this functionality will at least please you a bit. - you invented it!

as i see it, we want to create every possibility we can think of. Ladder based worlds, Multiplayer Mods, with storylines- or to win on that server, to gain access to the next server level? Hell, we might be hosting a 'Combat Missions Tournament' world!? who knows! the possibilities are there, you just have to make the effort to realise it!

If the mod supports New Badges, Custom Ranks, or maybe only Elite R-DEV ranks/icons ingame, ABR will suport that too! mix that with a custom game mode, stirr it with a big community, and the possibilities are endless. im ready for it. Are you?

Well.....
after all this talking i'm in for a game.
checkout the Latest implemented version of ABR on : 67.18.115.58
be sure to get a good killstreak as any kit (medic, engineer, sniper)
don't let anybody fool you, this is THE one and only server running the Almost Public Release of Alternative Battlefield Ranking!

Thats it for now!

No point arguing it satcom. :P

I really like what you guys are doing and I think it will be a great thing for the community. However, I am with Beckwith on this one. People have become such huge statwhores now. I like the idea of a ranking system with badges and what not, but I like earning the badge by playing normally, not by specifically playing a certain way to attain those awards as most everyone does now.

In any case, keep up the good work. :)

I believe the point satcom is making, ( could be wrong ) is that you can switch of the badges and medals. If for instance you were to play in a tournament or clan, then badges etc can be awarded by your senior officer or clan mate. These in turn can be seen in the ABR screen, ( which I am assuming is simmilar to BFHQ ) only they will show you the awards and time played etc for that player name. Therefore DAWG can be a pubby playing stat whore, but [1MEB]C|Pvt.BULLIT has gained his awards, by becoming a valued member of a clan or company within a tournament. In this case the game had nothing to do with my awards. I get them, but have the warm feeling of knowing they mean something more than time in the game.

Could be I am way off, but that's how I see it. Beckwith you know me. I hate the stats, but this is more than just another set of badges, it is a tool which can be implemented into different cultures to perform everyones needs given time.

You hit the spot dawg!!!!

sorry if i was unclear in my last post about about manual Ranking/badging!
but yes beckwith, its excatly that!

now, The Clan leader can promote people to their liking. without being bound to stats or other automated criteria!

It means that in a tourney situation, you can play with your tags as you would like. The prefix will show unit affiliation and your ranks will be displayed on the sidebar in game. Should solve some of the problems created by EA due to that F*"^ing stupid account registration pish.

So how does it work?
I keep getting an errormessage... in French... :?
And when I click OK the ABR client goes invisible as if it's ashamed or something...
Only way to get it back is to shut it down and start it up again.

Like I said in some other thread.... Computers hate me...

Ofourse you can play just like norrmal, connect to IP is fine.

The ABR client, should launch your game, then it goes hidden. when BF2 is closed, ABR unhides.

its nothing to be ashamed of, if its in use, it minimizes quite 'humble' aint it?

For those who want to see MEDAL action, Join with a mate, Knife your mate 5 times, or fly for five minutes, and you will be rewarded a medal.

Enjoy!
