spawning on SL in .6
i just have a quick question,
in .6, if you spawn on your SL are you pretty much screwed as far using any kits other than the 4 default kits? unless theyre is a rally point nearby that is. which it seems like there never is. so basically doesnt this make a squad that is pretty much just riflemen and engineers etc? you would have to go back to your base or a rally point to get something like a light AT kit which you can no longer spawn as. i read the wiki but maybe im missing something?

Pretty dumb, isn't it? It wouldn't be so bad if rally points weren't so sparse these days...charliegrs wrote:i just have a quick question,

Screwed if what? You run into a tank that you weren't prepared for? Yeah you are.....and you deserve to be.charliegrs wrote:i just have a quick question,

I talked with your squad leader, he said he was fuggin tired of carrying all your AT gear especially when you just waste it on infantry. He left it for you back at the rally point...
Honestly though, I just read the open beta rally point thread. They will be going back to much as they were before (only requiring 3 squadmates nearby to set up) So they should be so impossible to find.

Am I getting this right?
The only problem here is that you don't have access to any kits other than the basic kits if you spawn on a SL, but if you spawn at the rally point, you still have access to available specialty kits?
This make perfect sense to me. I don't see this as a problem.
Have I misunderstood the gripe?

Only thing I can figure out is that he is worried about the RP system, where bugs and new rules have made rally points almost non existant.{GD}Ghost wrote:Am I getting this right?

Most of the time you have been having to spawn on SL as there are no rally points down...
the real release will be fixed, and you will find rally points again so I think it should all work REALLY well.

was not a gripe, more a question. ok so if you spawn on SL but you need say a support or L-AT kit, you have to run back to the rally point or CP to get one correct? so in effect doesnt it split up your squad? i cant imagine too many squads wanting to wait around while 1 or more members run off to a rally point, which may be far as hell, to get a kit. this is basically how it works now though right?

I'm hardly seeing any RP's, and it's not for lack of trying. So often I will have 3 men with me but we can't put one down until we get a CP back, and with the frequency the CP's change on maps like 7gates/Mestia/AlBasrah i'm finding it hard to get them down.

What about... tea!'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz']Give that man a can of coke!!!!!
To the OP im just going to put it this way.
An M1A2 Abrams tank weighs 62 tons, has a 120 mm M256 smoothbore as its main armament and a top speed of 67KM/H. Its a tank for crying out loud. Some squad shouldnt be able to take it out in 1 minute by spawning as L-AT.

A complaint about a squad mostly consisting of the standard four kits is not really a complaint but in fact a compliment to the DEVs of PR, because they have improved both realism and gameplay in one change.
If a tank is comming:
1. You retreat, plan, prepare and attack
2. Call for your own tanks, hide and wait
3. Die
It's working as intended. Tanks should not be invincible to a prepared squad, but at the same time a tank should be able to completely blow away any squad not prepared with little to no trouble. That's balancing the system so tanks have the importance they should have without making them unbalanced.
It's the same with sniper rifles. Limit them severely so the weapons can be as lethal as they should.
Yesterday I was playing on one of the new desert maps with 1000m visibility range. We attacked a control point and captured it as two enemy tanks took position on a small hill near the "town" we were in. There may have been an armored transport too, but I wasn't really able to find out as the tanks got us severely pinned down. They didn't roll into town however. Perhaps they were affraid that we had AT measures and were waiting for infantry to clear us out. This lasted for about 10 minutes until a friendly tank flanked them. It's hard to explain, but for me this small incident clearly showed me the beauty of PR and the tactical descisions the PR systems / rules are forcing us to take.

....and this is the reason I love playing PR. No one person or squad should be all powerful or be able to completely switch equiptment on the fly if they are not at a supply location. This requires people to thnk and act a little more realistically.....or die doing dumb stuff.Doc.Canis wrote:A complaint about a squad mostly consisting of the standard four kits is not really a complaint but in fact a compliment to the DEVs of PR, because they have improved both realism and gameplay in one change.
